People were saying that Canelo looked a bit dry at the weigh-in for Canelo-Khan and he has been getting bigger over time but won't eventually the whole 155lb catchweight stuff will backfire on him? At some point, imo, it will be detrimental and will have to fight at 160. I don't see him going down to 154 anymore. I'm curious what Canelo will do if he can't make 155 lb anymore and eventually fight the 160lb limit against other middleweights. His so called power will be negated and he will have to face middleweights who all have similar power to him and probably move better. And once Canelo is stuck to fight actual middleweights, how will he do? Imo, it's fairly possible he could get exposed because many middleweights will be able to take his punches and trade him fairly comfortably; and if you take away that part of Canelo's game, how will he respond? will he fade or hang in there? We've seen what happens when he gets frustrated like his Mayweather fight but then again, he did go the distance with some others. I'm curious how his game holds up in the middleweight division. Like his so called power, hand speed, chin, stamina, defense, all aspects of boxing versus guys his actual own size with similar skillset. Had Canelo fought someone like a Lemieux or Stevens instead of Kahn, it would definitely tell me more how Canelo could do against GGG and his position in the middleweight ranks. That is something I want to see.
He will outgrow 155 for sure. He (and Oscar) will probably try to stay at 155 as much as possible, with BS fights like Khan and such, and if he does move to 160 they'll do more BS fights and STALL like hell before actually facing GGG (unless GGG retires by then lol). I forsee a fight with Rosado, Macklin, Monroe, and possibly Lemieux. Lemieux would be a real tough one... And I honestly believe, stylistically, that Rosado has a real good chance of beating Canelo. Also don't forget, Rosado has a chin of pure granite. I think he would still have decent power against real middleweights. Maybe no crazy knockouts but enough to keep people honest. Canelo's boxing ability is really underrated. He's pretty technical, not everything is power.
The problem with 160 from Canelo's side is that the only big fight there is Golovkin and that's a too big risk of a fight to take. Losing to Mayweather on points and going back to 154/155 was acceptable. Getting knocked out by Golovkin with nowhere left to go will effectively ruin his career.
