How good would he be against: Brook Thurman Porter Mayweather (of 5 years ago) Pacquaio (of 5 years ago) Discuss
I think he would run though pretty much everybody on that list but Mayweather. I think that Leonard against Mayweather would be a great chess match.
Leonard toys with all of them, mixes his styles, stands toe to toe, gets on his bike, out speeds and out thinks all of them knocking all of them out when he finally gets bored.
Its very easy for us all to recall great fighters with rose tinted glasses and feel that they would beat all in the modern era but SR Leonard is really one that at WW I would have favoured against most. I rate Floyd Mayweather as one of the very best ever but Leonard was fast, and a big WW and good puncher. I wouldnt be shocked if Leonard were to outpoint Floyd but wouldnt bet on it. I would favour Leonard over all except for Mayweather where I am a bit undecided
I can't see SRL losing to any of them. I think the Floyd fight would go to a decision but, even then, I don't think it would be closer than 8-4.
SRL TKO's Floyd. I don't know why everyone thinks that will be a chess match. You don't box the boxer and SRL was one of the best finishers in WW history.
You're right it wouldn't be a chess match, Leonard was never really known for being a very smart fighter with a high IQ. Leonard has less than zero percent chance of out think Floyd in the ring. Mayweather would win UD 9-3. Leonard got hit way to easy. Mayweather would start the 4 rounds focusing going to the body with the jab to the solar plexus to take away that precious speed and stamina of Leonard. When Mayweather gets him tired then game over. Mayweather is statistically the more accurate puncher and counter puncher in boxing history. Mayweather would counter the hell out of Leonard's looping/telegraphed punches.
So Floyd is just defenseless against welterweight Leonard.....that's your observation? Even though Benitez who is a lesser defensive fighter than Floyd gave him hell? Even Floyd Sr gave Leonard a tough fight. TBE would more than hold his own against prime Leonard
