Here's Margarito against Sebastian Lujan, who's shorter than Cotto. [YT]JnHPe27rNlI[/YT] Watch this clip, then tell me how you feel about that statement you just made.
He made that mistake against Clottey till the guy injured his knuckles early, even with one hand he was able to make Margarito look bad at times. So no, that wasn't the only time they made that mistake.
Let's not pretend like Williams didn't get hit in that fight. He did. The punches landed were HARD as well. Everytime I see someone mention the Williams fight it seems like they're trying to say that Williams made Margarito miss all night. That wasn't the case. It just so happens that Williams is a gigantic welter and Santos is a gigantic jr.middle. Neither guy is going to go down easily from a welterweight punch.
He is not as big as Williams/Santos though. We say the same thing about Hatton's punches against a bigger opponent. Size does play a huge role when you have the kind of styles Hatton and Margarito have. Look how Hatton handled Castillo (who was a monster at lightweight). It's just common sense. Bigger head, bigger torso = much more durable. Plus Margarito can't be that much bigger than welter. He's been there his whole career and he's 30 years old now. If he moves up it'll be 154 and it'll probably stop right there.
He's still a very big welterweight and everyone that mentions seems to say it, maybe not as big as Williams but still a big one to the point where he actually looks like a Junior Middleweight. As far as moving up to Jr. Middleweight is concerned, if Santos was a tough start then the rest will all be Haglers.
Hurt hands are part of the sport and a lame ass excuse. Margarito beat Clottey, when he ramped up Clottey simply could not keep up. I aint buying this hand excuse.
We all know this. What YOU fail to acknowledge is that Clottey made him look horrible in that bout for 4-5 rounds and even again late with one hand when he started moving.
Thanks for clip, didnt see this fight, it realy helps to visualize Margo vs Cotto better. Margo might be too big to fight inside with cotto. I expect this fight to start like a regular boxing match until Cotto gets cought with few right hands from outside and will go right after Margo, then well see left body hooks from Cotto and left uppercuts from Margo...god this fight will be something :bbb:good
lame excuse again. Clottey had a pretty quick turn around for his next fight and when asked about his hands which showed ZERO signs of tenderness he said he was cured by the great "African medicine". :rofl Gte lost with this lame ass shiit.
Can you read dumb ass? I said nothing about a hurt hand. I said that he made him look bad and you refuse to acknowledge this. You further made my point for me. Thank you for playing.
so Clottey outboxed him for most of the early rounds. . . AM clearly won the fight because he ramped up and Clottey couldnt keep up. Its a 12 round fight.
OK. Now, step two in logical assessment. Floyd and Cotto are up here in terms of overall ability...... and..... Clottey is down here.
