I blame both Alvarez and Golovkin for this nonsense. It's embarrassing. Meet at 157 ffs. Cat fight over a couple of pounds.

Seriously.. The fact that GGG wouldn't consider anything below 160 for a career high payday is strange in itself....

Makes me think that they are just hyping the fight, letting it "marinate".

Why in the world would Golovkin turn down a fight with a an elite fighter for a career payday, for the WBC strap against a fighter most believe would be easy for him, OVER like you said, a couple of pounds.

Don't understand GGGs reasoning, unless they are in cahoots and will fight next year after the fight is hyped to the max.

I feel like catchweights are a joke. I feel like the idea of weightclasses entirely.

As much as I love GGG, he needs to start becoming s bit more realistic. In an ideal world Canelo will fight him at 160. If he wants a big fight he is going to be at a disadvantage unfortunately.

The middleweight limit is 160 pounds. That is what ALL middleweight title fights should be fought at. CW title fights are mot really legal
Canelo has nothing GGG wants now Gennady should tell him "Kiss my Ass you had your chance. You chickened out"

Golovkin needs to start playing the game. He's 34. Boxing politics. It's **** I know but that's how it is. He will beat Alvarez at 155

I dont even think its about the weight issue. I think that could be worked out.

What it will come down to as it always is, is the money split.

GGG wants for the fight to happen now which means he's got to take a very short end of a money split.
There lies the real problem, I dont think Golovkin feels its fair he gets less than 25% of the cut, but if he does his homework he'll find out it happens all the time in boxing where a more deserving fighter gets that type of cut and even less.

So not even for the fans?

GGG won't fight Canelo for his biggest purse, on his biggest stage, with the biggest audience, to finally get an elite name on his resume??

Are you sure you're a boxing fan over a GGG fanboy?

That's why Golovkin told Canelo that he is not Floyd Mayweather. Canelo has not paid enough dues to feel like he can control things. But he got a pass back when he was fighting welterweights to get the Jr MW titles.

Mayweather is 40, fought in 5 weight classes, has proven everything he has to in the sport, and is retired. He only wants to fight for money now.

GGG is 34, has never beat anyone above C level, and has only fought in 1 weight class. He has plenty left to prove.

If Wlad, Pacquiao, Hopkins, Floyd etc these old farts want to put on a circus act for HUGE paydays, who cares?
