Greg Tony knocked him down. Dont believe it was called correctly as a knock down tho.

His stock definitely goes up. He went from being a prospect to becoming a top 10 heavyweight.

He obviously showed some flaws, most noticeably stamina issues, but he beat a good, veteran, top 10 heavyweight in a close but clear decision.

He needs some more work and would really benefit from taking another fight or two before his title shot comes around.

It moved on, in that it answered a lot of questions but posed some new ones.

The hypetrain will have to slow down a little as Parker's weaknesses were clearly exposed.

However, Parker also showed how he handles adversity. Even when he was exhausted & hurt he didn't crumble & showed no signs of quitting.

Showed he can box and find a way to win.

His power went down he didn't budge takam at any point

Can't see him beating any top 5 guys at any point

It was a close fight. Takam won on my card. I felt he landed the cleaner and crisper shots on Parker.

Even in the bar in Auckland was quiet after the fight. A few samoans even had Takam winning the fight, and were a little surprised by the cards.

Good fight for Parker and experience though. He will struggle if he stepped up again IMO.

Up just a notch. Confirmed what we already suspected about his defense and gas tank not being A-grade but also proved the kid has a solid chin and plenty of heart.

I had it 7-5 to Parker and the Compubox stats seem to run that way too (for what they're worth).

I overhyped him going into the fight yet my opinion didn't change afterward, I realized I set my expectations too high and he still performed better against Takam than Perez did, and without the aid of meldonium Povetkin may have given a similar performance, since Sasha struggled with Takam for the first 8 rounds anyway.

The fight pretty much played out as I expected, it was always going to be tough, I never expected a quick KO or an easy decision, Takam gave Povetkin all he could handle early on, he isn't the kind of fighter to just be blown away or roll over. The only thing that surprised me was how Parker gassed so early, I didn't expect him to have stamina issues.

But overall Parker's reputation went up after the Takam fight. Nobody really knew how good he was, it was all just speculation until yesterday. He has a hard fought win against a top level opponent and proved he belongs at this level but also showed he's still a work in progress who for all his natural athleticism still has a ton of flaws.

Parker/Pulev should be a really good fight, very competitive but Pulev has to be the favourite at the moment.

His stock went up for me.
He showed he is more then a one-trick-pony by knocking out people. He showed he can box and that he has a lot of heart and that he is tough and can take a punch.
Takam is a tough world-class contender and Parker beat him. Takam put some pressure on Parker, but Parker did come out on top. He had some stamina issues after round 8, but if he works on that, he is a future champion.

Went up for me. This was a really big step up for him and the only thing that seriously let him down was his fitness. He wasnt found out in any other way that could be deemed as a serious worry for the next time he steps it up a level.

Everything you could pick him up on can be worked on and resolved in the gym. Not like a glass jaw or serious lack of talent.

Though saying that, id certainly not put him in with Joshua next.

True but he doesn't have much time to iron out these flaws now. By beating Takam he announces himself on the world stage and sets up a final eliminator with Pulev who won't be a push over and then Joshua soon after that.

Also I have little faith in the team around him. Other than the stamina issues, I had already recognised the flaws in Parker before Takam and I'm not the only person on this forum to notice these flaws, others have mentioned these flaws before. If boxing fans can see the flaws why can't his own team who see him day in, day out, see and try and correct these flaws before now. Parker up to this point is basically the same fighter he's always been, very talented but with little real craft.

I suspect Parker will be loyal stick with his team and either lose to Pulev or Joshua and then hopefully make the changes to his team to become a better fighter and only then will we see Parker fix his flaws and become the fighter he could become.
