Lara has been using GGG's name for the past 2 yrs. Time for him to put up or shut up.

Lara has been using GGG's name for the past 2 years. I doubt whether he really wants to fight the guy. He only brings up Golovkin's name in pre fight interviews in order to generate more interest for his fights. It's the same strategy Pacquiao used against TBE.

I'm calling Lara out on his bull****. If he really wanted to fight Golovkin, Al Haymon would have made it happen by now. Haymon has a good relationship with Loeffler. They were able to make the GGG-Wade fight on HBO. The bout would have to take place on HBO since GGG is the bigger draw of the two. Time for Erislandy Lara to put up or shut up.

In the time he has been manning up on twitter, he could have moved to 160 and put himself in a mandatory spot for one of the numerous belts GGG owns. Golovkin has clearly shown he has no issues with mandatories, but instead Lara continues to use the internet. At this point in time, he has nothing to offer GGG over Canelo, BJS, Jacobs, or even Eubank Jr. He needs to get in line.

You obviously dont know how matchups are made.

A fighter like Lara who's fought the who's who of boxing doesn't have to move up the ranks to get an opportunity in the next division.

Lara's resume is deeper than GGG's for Christ sake.

Bingo. All he ever had to do was beat Jacobs, who is in the same stable, to force a mandatory. Then, if GGG dropped a belt instead of fighting him? We could talk about how Lara was being avoided. And I'd be inclined to agree.

As it stands, Lara hasn't taken the steps necessary to force the issue. Mandatories exist for the sole reason of giving "deserving" fighters a crack at the belt they otherwise may not get. And while the quality of some mandatory challengers is a joke, it's still the most viable way to put yourself in position to fight a champ who otherwise wouldn't look your way. And, if they decline and vacate, it gives the (ex) champ's image a hit.

If beating Jacobs is asking too much, why on earth would I feel like he's got a chance against Golovkin?

All of those ggg potential fights have a good chance of falling through, no Tureano Johnsons and other mismatches. No more bums for ggg to fight from now on. No need to pretend there's no way to avoid bums. Lara is right there, no excuses, no caveats.

And, even though I feel Lara-GGG would be another KO win for Golovkin, I will qualify that by saying Lara is in face the best at 154 and would be a perfectly acceptable opponent choice.

My tier of acceptable opponents I'd like to see for GGG would be something like:
    Tier 1: Canelo
    Tier 2: Saunders, Jacobs
    Tier 3: Lara, Eubank

A guy like Heiland, Khurtsidze, or Johnson is only acceptable if an Alvarez fight is signed for a future date and they need a stay busy or two in the meantime. I think Khurtsidze could very well knock out Lara, but he doesn't have the name value or track record to give GGG the same amount of credit beating Lara would.

Yes, or he could have stayed in his weight, where there are bigger names than ggg and he feels more comfortable and do the same.

He told ggg that if he wanted he would fight him. Ggg sais no. Well, ok, then dont say "everybody dodges me", because that's totally false.

Thanks for proving my point. Become a mandatory? Land a GGG fight.

    Guaranteed.

    So, why can't Lara?

    isn't he negotiating with Canelo?

anyway, I hope Lara moves up to 160 and GG fights him, just to shut up those who think GG's ducking him, even though those very same people will say GG's dragged up another JMW once GG brutalised Lara and knocks him out

Lara has zero interest in a GGG fight, he doesn't even campaign in the same weight class. Funny how gullible people are.
