Groves v murray: murray has no chance here....

Exactly. Martin doesn't demand respect or expects his opponents to bow down at being in his presence. I think a lot of respect has to be given for Murrays career. He takes tough fights, usually away from home. Never moans, never whinges just gets on with it and takes whatever happens on the chin.

 

You'd have to make Groves favourite simply because he's the natural 168lber.

But, Groves hasn't looked good since being blitzed by Froch.

Groves will look good early on, he'll have the jab bouncing off Murrays high guard, and will let a few bombs go.

If Murray can look busier in the early rounds, then it could be interesting by the 8th, as Groves will start to gas.

 

Groves for me. He has won some of his big ones. Murray has won none of his. Punch output is too low.

 

Groves has a top trainer now. That makes a big difference. He will beat Murray easily.

Huh? He lost his three biggest fights just like Murray lol, I think groves wins coz he's a natural super middle and theres nothing Murray has that would surprise him

 

Groves has fallen short every time he's fought at World level.

Beating a half starved geriatric Johnson, and winning a close decision when him and DeGale were both a bit greener, doesn't equate to winning big ones.

Murray went to Martinez's backyard, and should have gotten the nod, i'm not going to pretend it was prime Martinez, but still a decent performance.

Murray also pushed Sturm close, and a Murray decision wouldn't have been a robbery.

 

Groves is clearly the more talented but I don't think he has the stamina and mental capacities to be great. Murray could take this late you know if Groves tires and gets fustrated.

 

I like Murray but he just doesn't do enough to win rounds for me. I've sat there urging him on a number of times and he just let's the round tick away. It's so frustrating.

Like someone said above, I'm not sure if he's trying to save energy or just hasn't got the willingness to open up and take a small gamble. You would of thought he'd of learned by now.

Anyway I'll go Groves on points. He'll take the first 6-8, then Murray will nick a few imo.

Best chance for Murray is if he looks to fight a bit like Joshua Clottey, and walk Groves down with a high guard. Obviously that gives Groves a chance to land to both head and body, but it's the only way for Murray to take enough out of tank of Groves, draw mistakes of out of him, and make him vulnerable down the stretch.

As Groves fatigues his range/reach advantage will no longer be factor because he won't have the discipline/energy to use it, and that's when Murray can trade at mid-range and have success.

 

While he's never been knocked unconcious, Golovkin had him up and down more times than a pair of tarts knickers - battereed him black and blue. Wonder if he'll be able to sustain punishment like that again - Not many fighters are the same after beatings like that. I take Groves by a comfortable UD though. There's just nothing Murray does better than Groves, could say Murray has a better tank/stamina, but his workrate isn't the greatest, he'll be plodding around the ring with his high guard taking shots all night against Groves, a late stoppage wouldn't be a surprise here.

 

He's fought since then, against a world class fighter in Authur Abraham who was naturally bigger. There were no signs of him struggling in that match or side effects from the hiding he took from GGG.

I agree with a lot of what you say though. He is very frustrating the way he plods around with a high guard. I don't think he's demonstrated that he can finish a world class fighter off. This is a big night for him, and I hope that he can finally show people what he can do.

I like Groves though, I don't hate him like some others seem to do. He does appear to have grown up, and if he does beat Murray, I hope he'll go on to win a World title belt.
