So Wilder Gets To Fight Someone Else. R U Surprised?

Povetkin is the one who's been ducking/retreating.

He beat Perez in less than 3 minutes in May 2015 to become the mandatory, which was due by January 2016.

WBC orders open negotiations to begin in October.

Povetkin announced he's going to fight in November, moving the negotiation period back.

In fact, Povetkin's promoter sent someone all the way to China to tell the WBC that their man could not be ready by January and needed to push the mandatory back to April or May.

Wilder says, OK, I'll defend my title in January.

Then it goes to bids and the fight is set in Russia on Povetkin's turf and on his delayed timetable.

And Povetkin fails a drug test.

No reason on earth why Wilder should not be able to defend his title while Povetkin is not available -- the WBC hasn't made a determination on whether to ignore the drug test (and take some Russian payoff money) and keep him as the No. 1 contender or suspend him and strip his ranking (it has taken longer for the WBC to do this, BTW, than it took to create the earth, according to Genesis).

The latest word from Povetkin's promoter (who is optimistic because he knows Mauricio isn't going to turn down the payoff money) was that he HOPES the fight can take place by the end of the year and that Povetkin (whom he clams has not failed a drug test) will have to pass a series of tests before it can take place.

Drug-cheat challengers should never, ever be able to hold up a world title while they go about trying to get banned substances out of their systems.

Povetkin Pumpers have been repeating the mantra "We don't know how long it takes for this stuff to get out of the system" (he claims to have stopped taking it around 9 months ago and it's "still there" is the party line). Well, it might take another 9 months. It may take 18 months. Hey, they say we have no idea, so how long should a champion have to wait around?

I would say zero days. Wilder is rightfully free to move on while Russian money tries to sort this out.

 

Agree with povetkin and his people has twice sabotaged the fight ast this point they have given wilder every e,cause to say no I will never fight him.

 

Seems pretty obvious why Povetkin waited from May to November to have his "tune-up." Works well with cycling PEDs.

He fought less than 3 minutes in May. He could have had a tuneup in July or August or even September and been ready to go in January.

Of course, that's less true if he needs six months or so between fights to keep on a cycle. They knew if he fought in January he would test hotter than Chernoblyl, and for a lot more than meldonium.

 

Why is it his fourth voluntary defense in a row? Wilder offered to fight Povetkin, his mandatory, in September 2015, but Povetkin decided to schedule a "tuneup" in November. So, since the mandatory didn't want the fight, the WBC allowed Wilder a voluntary.

Wilder offered Povetkin a fight in January 2016. Povetkin declined. It was "too soon" after his tuneup with Wach (even though he suffered no injuries). So, since the mandatory didn't want the fight, the WBC allowed Wilder another voluntary.

Wilder and Povetkin went to purse bid, and the fight was set for May 2016. Povetkin tested positive for banned drugs ... which his promoter ridiculously claimed Povetkin hadn't taken since last September. (The drug that stays in your system for EIGHT MONTHS apparently. Only drug in the world that lasts that long in your body, apparently.)

This fight should've taken place last September, last January, and this month ... AND POVETKIN SCREWED UP ALL OF THEM.

Povetkin did. Wilder would've sat on the shelf for a goddamn YEAR if he hadn't taken those voluntary defenses, because Povetkin won't sh*t and he won't get off the pot.

Povetkin is a waste of space.

Look for him to enter the WBA "ALL PED" Elimination Tournament next. Where he can fight Chagaev again.

Povetkin WANTS NOTHING TO DO WITH WILDER. He's refused to fight him in September and January ... and he took PEDs to get out of the May fight. So now Wilder will get another voluntary.

If you don't like the fact that Wilder has been given so many voluntaries ... point your anger at the mandatory who keeps bowing out of his title shot.

Povetkin is a coward. Time to move on.

Wilder isn't to blame, it's Pedvetkin, and the WBC for not making a decision by now to suspend and strip his mandatory. Whatever, life is moving on, to the next one.

In other words: you know you're wrong but refuse to quit trolling?

 

I'm all for Povetkin getting his shot but Wilder needs to keep moving too. If the WBC is cool with him fighting a voluntary then so am I.

 

No dummy you take that **** during training camp to enhance your training. Fighters that use often have it flushed from their system by fight night. There are PED cycles, he just screwed up somewhere along the line and got caught.

 

He could just hang around for PEDvetkin to stop roiding I guess.
