Very guilty of slapping and little to no defence, I'm afraid because of his surname he done the commonwealth undefeated Charlie Flynn out of a TVs slot, shocking
It's called business billy you know that better than anyone right or wrong benns got the name already through his dad
Yeah agree with Smithson on that, a lot more viewers would have been interested in watching Benn than Charlie Flynn
Finally seen the fight from last night because I couldn't see it yesterday. Benn's right hand is terrible. So bad that I wonder whether he is a natural left-hander. When he was throwing some body shots his left looked more powerful and with better technique than his right. He chops a lot with his right, he literally throws hammer shots with his right and it looks terrible. Took so many shots too. Needs to clean that up asap and just work on technique. Chris Eubank Jr was light years ahead in skill at the time of his first few fights.
Spot on with the chopping right hand comment and being generous has a lot to work on and looks very, very easy to hit.The only positive I will add is at least he had an opponent that was competitive and came to fight and not roll over in his second fight. To add to the list of father/son comparisons just seen Shane Mosley's son and he looks very limited.
Hes entertaining and seems to be a really nice fun loving kid. Having tartan on his shorts shows where hes coming from imo. He only had 20 am fights and this is his 2nd pro. Theres a lot of work to do on his boxing ability and technique, defence etc but im sure hell get there. He was eager to entertain last night and he did that. Pro boxing is part of the entertainment industry and he certainly understands that area. I like him..
He looks very raw and doesn't to have any real natural talent. When Eubank Jr turned pro, he was raw as hell but I got the sense that their was ability there. I don't get that same feeling with Benn Jr
Not sure how you can say anything but the boy has a real chance in the game. Not guaranteed but nothing is.
I watched it again this morning, I want to be patient and understanding about his age and lack of experience but that was really poor. As said above that was a televised fight, you would see more control and skill in most amateur bouts. It's the style of fighting that bothers me, there seems no method behind it, no control, it's just far to wild, it looks like it doesn't suit him even though we haven't seen anything else from him yet. Nigel could fight that way if he wanted to and he did early in his career but he had power to KO you with both hands so it worked a lot of the time but Conor doesn't seem to own that sort of power and looks a KO waiting to happen because his defence looks non existent. I hope the people working with him are strong enough to insist things have to change, maybe last night will give them the perfect example on way he has to change his style and attitude inside the ring.
