A pair of tough guys who could take it probably better than they could dish it out. Both had close bouts against past-it Ken Norton (draw for LeDoux, split decision loss for Cobb), both lost to Larry Holmes in one-sided fashion (Cobb by decision, LeDoux on stoppage due to an eye injury due likely to catching a thumb - but neither won a round against Larry). Cobb beat a faced Earnie Shavers and Bernie Mercado, and gave Michael Dokes a damned tough go in a close decision loss. LeDoux beat undefeated Marty Monroe and Ron Stander, and lost a split verdict to post-prime Ron Lyle. These guys would certainly go the distance, unless cuts forced a stoppage, because neither could hurt the other. But who wins? My guess is that the best version of Cobb is a little busier and has better boxing skills and wins a close decision. What do you think?
I'll go with Cobb but it might actually be a good fight. Two tough guys who mixed it up with some top notch fighters and held their own.
Good match-up, but I see Cobb as being a bit tougher, bigger too. Probably go the sloppy distance and end up with a majority decision for Cobb.
I'd take Cobb to beat Scott in a good slugfest. I think Cobb had better overall skills. Both were real tough guys, with Cobb being just a tad tougher. Duane Bobick was able to decison LeDoux (twice, I think), Cobb could do the same.
Duane won a clear decision in a good fight then came back to stop Scott in a rematch, but unless he was in a big fight where he froze Duane was head and heals above Tex in skills. Cobb could box some but ate punches with his face also, Scotty had a better defense. In a close fight either could get the decision in Tex gets home his jab and some right hands while Scott finds an easy range for his dangerous looking overhand rights. Pic em.
When physically fit Cobb was a bit better and may win a close decision but LeDoux came to fight far more often and gave his all far more often .. Scott had the heart of a warrior and Tex was a character in for the check ..
