Think about it: Why doesnt Golovkin fight Canelo for free??????

Who will pay for GGG's team, camp, trainers , food, travel, accommodations? At that level they spend 100k easy just preparing for a fight. Besides, he would most likely donate to a charity in Kazakhstan so the demographic will hate him even more.

 

Remember Pac offered that to Froid ?? ROFL They'll have to drag Pollo to the ring bodily . He's scared stiff of GGG

He's a professional boxer risking his life in there, why on earth would he fight for nothing? Besides, Canelo and Oscar would still find a way out anyway

 

Because Golovkin isn't the only one who gets paid from the fight? If Golovkin fought for free his entire team wouldn't be getting paid either. They don't have the luxury of having millions in the bank like the fighters they help train.

If he offers to fight for free then GGG is basically admitting that he isn't a draw. It could create the perception that isn't very popular in the US (so much that he offers to fight for free).

If negotiations were to then fall apart with Canelo, then it could impact Golovkin's capacity to maintain the upper hand in subsequent negotiations.

 

I isnt necessary to fight for free. The only thing he should have done is to ask for a realistic split instead of a totally unrealistic 55/45 split, and he would have had his fight.

But, you know? actually gg didnt want to fight canelo, that's the truth...

I don't think that's correct. People are getting old rules confused with new rules. I think this needs to be settled. So heres what I could find.

Rules and Regulations as of 2009:

a) 70% for the Champion and 30% for the Challenger

b)55% to the Champion and 45% to the interim challenger

Fast Forward to 2014:

a) 70% for the Champion and 30% for the Challenger

The only way to have a 55/45% split is for the board of Governors to authorize a change by majority vote.

Fast forward to the most updated set of rules from Nov. 2015:

b) First 10% of the purse be set aside for the winner of the bout

b)70% of the remaining 90% shall be for the champion while 30% of the remaining 90% be for the challenger

Once again the only way for a 55/45 split is for the WBC board of governors to intervene with a majority vote.

Correct me if I'm wrong, which I may be, but everyone claiming 55/45 are getting their information from a 7 year old Rulebook that is multiple revisions out of date.
