Hopefully GGG can get some really good competition at 160 so we can more accurately judge how good he is.

 

And he'd be hated by the same people who are praising him. See how that works?

Jacobs is a good fighter , has a height and reach advantage over Golovkin , fast hands .... let this fight happen soon .

 

He is a special talent with an average resume. People will see it for what is...sooner or later. Given his age, he might not be anything more than a flash in the pan, at his current pace. I think Martinez's run at 160 was more significant, interesting, and tougher.

Not really an apples to apples comparison though. GGG is nothing like FLoyd inside and outside the ring.

 

Sure it is apples to apples. I said nothing about Mayweather. There are plenty of other examples to use as far as fighters and promototers where this holds true. I am dead on with this.

No. Mayweather decides who he is going to fight, talks for himself, and was smart enough to leave his promoter.

 

Floyd is special , he was the best in our Era AND was the biggest draw so he could choose who ever he wanted to fight and when , GGG is mega talented but lacks the drawing power of Floyd , Also GGG has big power so going in and losing a decision to floyd isn't career ending as a beat down you will get from GGG , fighters always blamed floyd for running/boxing whatever usually it seemed like they were 1 punch away (which they never were) from catching him.

So if GGG had no power ppl would've lined up.
If GGG gives them MEGA payday and a beatdown ppl would've lined up.
As it stands its hard to convince the fighters to get a beatdown with a good but not mega payday.

Yea but you also have to look at the "why".

Why isn't GGG generating the revenue to give fighters a mega payday?

You would think a fighter dismantling his opponents would generate that buzz but it isn't. IMO the reason is because there is no buzz coming from enough of the actual boxing fans to catch enough ears from the casuals. Yea he is dominating his competition but while some of his competition is good it is not great. Alot of actual boxing fans see this along with alot of GGG fans. It isn't his fault that the middleweight division is not stacked. From the fanboys I keep hearing that one day smaller fighters will move up and generate that buzz. But what if they do not? Do we want him to just make his name on smaller men anyway when he is very capable of doing more? A The SMW division is looking just as mediocre except without a standout like GGG and The LHW division is 2 divisions up with only a handful of fighters who stand out that might be way out of GGGs reach with his advancing age. I am a fan of GGG and it is unfortunate how his career has unfolded from bad luck to bad management.

Personally I would rather of seen him move up and taking on bigger fighters as a testament to how good he is and while their just "good" like his division their size would of at least come in as a factor to show how good or possibly great he could of been. Waiting for rising stars at MW and for better fighters from the lower divisions to move up I feel has wasted too much time. I have been debating people on him moving up for awhile now and they always push the just wait narrative. Well who knows if he hadn't of waited he may have been lineal at 2 weights above his current weight instead of being relegated to getting the status handed to him at 160. His career has been frustrating for sure since the Universum days and but I doubt anyone can be as frustrated as GGG has to be though. I do hope his career takes off though it would be better late than never and I like watching his fights even though the conclusion is expected.

 

I agree usually it is just the GGG haters and fanboys arguing instead of the objective boxing fans discussing his career.

 

Jacobs will run faster than Canelo. Eubank Jr or Ramirez are the most realistic candidates.
