Cotto wouldn't have been so over confident and would've finished Torres quicker.

It works both ways. Cotto didn't train for Torres. Not to imply that the fight would have gone differently but it does work both ways.

    I believe same outcome.

Cotto comes in overconfident and slightly weightdrained. Torres comes in boxing in a very green fashion. Catches Cotto once or twice thennnn BOOOM

Cotto decides it's time to box and show skill. Fight ends in about the 8th or 9th.

An earlier thread said they sparred together at some time,I think---also that they did'nt like each other--so they came out both throwing punches with little thought of defense... at the end of the day Cotto's body punches broke Ricardo down imo..:smoke :smoke

Not very many people thought Cotto would make it to elite status after this fight.....

Yeah, Lampley mentioned it during the ring walks. I don't think they ever sparred, though.

As far as Torres taking the fight on late notice. He had fought a few weeks earlier on Telefutura where he stopped Edwin Vasquez in 3 rounds. Based on that, he said he felt he was still in fighting shape and took the Cotto fight on short notice after Gianluca Branco was injured in training. They were already plans for Cotto-Torres that December, possibly on Top Rank PPV.

Torres was already training for anyother fight, so he was in solid shape.

also Cotto was pushed down and he took a whole lot of shots from Torres before he was even pushed down.

Torres was already training for another fight and had fought about 2 months earlier on Solo Boxeo...so he was ready to fight. Cotto was at the same disadvantage because he was training for a totally different fighter. Also the one week notice wasn't true...he had about 3 weeks.
