Have been boxing training a little while and a little niggle in my left side below my ribs has developed into a painful injury. Have been told by Physio that it is an oblique strain. I have found very little info online about others experiences with this, and have found no other info about boxers specifically having this injury. This surprises me as I understand it is from the twisting action and it is common in cricket and baseball players apparently. I'm hoping someone on here has some experience of this and can assure me that there is some light at the end of tunnel as at the moment it has stopped me training as pretty much any movement of the core is painful.
You've strained your obliques. Rest until it's not painful then slowly get back into training. I don't get what you're expecting to be told? :think
Maybe its not clear.....I'm asking wether anyone else on here has injured there obliques and am interested in their experience of recuperation etc. They may have found a particular exercise helpful....how long it took for them to heal.....wether they reinjured it ........information particulary from boxers that I am unable to find online.
That's interesting as it coincides with me working more on my hooks on the heavy bag. When you say you just have to deal with it , what do you mean exactly? It sounds like it is something that has not got better?
