What skills was Stiverne displaying? Stiverne did not get knocked out, because Wilder's power is wildly overrated. That does not make Stiverne a worldbeater. If Demetrice King had been in there, Stiverne would not have made the bell.
Liar. Boxing experience: Debut: Joshua: 2007 aka: 9 years. Wilder: 2005 aka: 11 years. Thus advantage in experience. Wilders bad in comparision...
Wilder has fought better opponents but hes also had more fights and with his status each bout is a step up or supposed to be. I dont like the way Deontay boxers though. Hes got power, reach but hes open and can over commit in his punches (especially when he senses a KO) to the point where hes sloppy. Joshua is the better boxer and I am confident he will beat Wilder.
AJ is being pushed a little too fast but not obscenely so. There's more than one way to develop a fighter. I think Wilder matches up well against AJ and that's the fight that should be made. This talk of "building", the Mayweather way wouldn't work as there's no Maywetaher between these two, they need to be matched now, so the sequel can get hyped. I think this is a fight casuals in the US would miss the first time out anyways regardless of building but they'd see the twitter /Instagram clips and be there for the rematch.
Stiverne is certainly not a world beater. But you don't have to be to be better than Martin and Breazeale. Stiverne had good chin, power, and decent counterpunching ability ( though he did look awful in the actual fight).
How anyone thinks Wilder is better than Joshua I'll never know, Joshua is a level or two above him, LOOK at the fights, the eye test. Wilder has horrid technique and footwork.
As a Brit, I've seen too much of Joshua lately...a lot of money has clearly been invested in him and I want to see him do well but PLEASE FIGHT SOMEONE WHO WILL FIGHT BACK Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Joshua only has 17 pro fights under his belts.Names like Breazale,Skelton,Airich,Bakhtov,Sprott,Gavern,K.Johnson and Whyte are more than decent for a heavy with only 17 pro fights. Wilder's fight record is pathetic compared with Joshua's one IMO. And even Mike Tyson's first 17 fights look poor compared with Joshua's fight record.
AJ looks much more refined in the ring. Better boxing fundamentals, better ring IQ. Wilder seems limited, but I have to admit that considering his very mediocre skill set he makes the very best of it, you have to admire that. I rather see a limited guy like Wilder reach the elite level of HW boxing than see a fat slob like Solis throw away his 1 in a million talent at the buffet line.
Yep! Solis makes every true box aficionado sad! True waste of time and talent! Due to his great God-given talent he could have been a top 5 heavy by now earning serious money. Wilder cant hold a candle to him in terms of talent but will probably earn more money with the mismatch against that shot Arreola than Solis earned in his entire pro career.
it's sad that this is what we have to look forward to in the heavyweight division, they both suck i mean come on aj is a stiff and wilder has a decent right and thats it.give wilder a few yrs with a really good trainer and he can get better.
