He is not disrespected, people simply know he can't win. As in, it's literally an impossibility. This is a sure bet and if the odds won't be abysmal, I will go for it. The fight will go all 12 and regardless of the outcome, Canelo will be announced a winner. You can not beat him on points, and there is no way in hell Beefy the featherfist will knock Canelo out. No offense to Smith of course. He may be the greatest guy in the world, but this is a fight he won't win.
Probably this. I am hoping that the weight cut hurts Canelo this time and that Smith takes advantage. Great post by the OP btw.
Liam Smith is young, not many fights, and only had a couple of title fights against mediocre fighters. So he is unknown which makes it a hard sell. This all would make most people think that this is a mismatch. I dont think its a mismatch but i think that Smith has skipped a couple of levels by taking this fight and i just cant see him handled it well. As rediculous as it sounds for a World champ, i reckon its too much too soon for Smith.
This fight is gona be close. :deal Smith is being vastly under rated whilst Canelo is being vastly over rated. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Smith pulls off the upset.
He's somewhere around Wade's level, he has no notable wins, his best official win John Thompson just got dominated from bell to bell by Monroe, probably should have gotten a draw against Skorokhod, and got brutally KO2 by Frank Galarza who was recently dominated and stopped by Jarrett Hurd. So this is in reality one of the worst cherry picks of any P4P fighter I've seen in quite some time. He doesn't have anywhere close to the skill level to compete with Canelo, nor the power to bother him in the least, he's been feasting on tin cans his whole career, nothing against Beefy personally, but as an opponent for PPV, he deserves the disrespect, as does Canelo.
Never heard of the guy so quite difficult to disrespect him. If he wants respect he has to do it the old fashioned way.. he has to EARN it.
So let me get this straight, you've never heard of Isaac Chilemba, Liam Smith and Dominic Breazeale.:think Are you sure you watch Boxing?
Beefy didnt look like a featherfist in his last fight. He had heavy hands and a lot of hand speed as well. Im not sure he can knock out Canelo, but he may have enough punching power to bother Canelo. If youre expecting it to go the distance, then I think were in for a good fight because Beefy doesnt look like the kind of guy that is just going to stand there and get knocked around for 12 rounds. His style indicates that he tries to corner you and then unload. This could turn out to be a toe-to-toe fight filled with a lot of upright blocking and trading. If Liam can block effectively, and stay out of danger, he could give Canelo a run for his money. Khan proved that Canelo can be beat on points, by winning many of the first 5 rounds on the judges cards. It wont be easy for Smith to win a decision, but he is the champ, and Canelo has been known to be inactive at times. If Canelo is unable to land the quality punches that hes known for, Smith may have the style to stay in the pocket with Canelo and land quality punches himself. What makes this fight interesting to me is that unlike a lot of Canelos recent opponents who were good boxers (Lara, Trout, Floyd, Khan) that relied a lot on range finding jabs, Beefy is more of a plodder who wants to trap you on the ropes and wail away. I mean take a look at the finish vs Rado. Canelo really hasnt faced a guy who can land body punches like that and follow it up with uppercuts. Unlike those guys mentioned, Beefy could walk right up to Canelo in the upright guard and wait to counter Canelo with hooks to the body like he did vs Rado. Im not saying its likely, but styles make fights and I dont think Canelo has ever had to fight a guy with this style. Just because Beefy hasnt faced big real name opponents, doesnt mean hes any less dangerous. The biggest unknown to me is how Beefy will approach the fight being in Las Vegas as opposed to fighting in the U.K. His preparation and his team are key. It will be interesting to see when he gets to Vegas or if he trains in the U.K. Im not sure how much sparring will help Beefy in his preparation, as no sparring partner is going to be able to mimic Canelos style. I think he should focus on mitt work, shadow boxing, and stamina building exercises. Hes definitely strong in the arms and the shoulders, but if he can increase his core strength in the next two months it could improve his chances on fight night.
It easy to not look like a featherfist when you have a guy like Predrag Radosevic who was KO'd in 4 rounds but non other than Felix Sturm, who KO's no one of note, sans a career ending hip injury.
Paper belts making a farce out of boxing as usual. Yes Canelo is several levels higher than anything Smith has faced so far. They shouldn't be sharing a ring, but the paper belt makes it possible.
Smith is decent or has at least shown to be decent, but I don't know how much better than that he can be. He's the worst title holder at 154 for sure but I suspect he'll be tougher to dispose of than ****ing Amir Khan
Oh I understand, it makes sense to me. Liam Smith is now underrated even though he hasn't fought nobody of note, is regarded as a paper champion and is by far the weakest at 154 but because he is fighting Canelo he has to be built up a little bit to make Canelo's almost certain win look a lot better than it actually will be. Some people are completely shameless
After the suggestion Liam Smith will be a genuine test and is being underrated I am now waiting for Canelo fanboys to say Khan is actually iron jawed and that was just a sign of how hard Canelo hits now :yep
If the fights goes the distance, there is absolutely no way Liam will get the decision, if Mayweather can school Canelo for 12 rounds, and one judge gives a draw then his chances are slim at best. All this bravado Canelo showed after his last fight was just that. If the governing body didnt push the GGG fight, Canelo would still be fighting for a 160lbs belt against welters with a 20lbs advantage every fight.
