So Has GGG's Aura Gone Down Or What?

For my part, I've lost some respect for him. I can only think that he'd already made an agreement with Hearn or the British boxing channel who's putting up the money and they have already booked the O2 arena for his next fight. That leaves about eight weeks for a camp for whoever he's fighting. If Eubanks was dilly dallying, demanding ridiculous concessions, and hoping to pressure Hearn or GGG into giving away the store because of their encroaching deadlines, he's got another thing coming.

With the O2 arena already booked for September 10th that means he needed a British opponent who didn't already have a fight lined up. Saunders already said no. Eubanks wasn't signing. The only other Brit in the top 20 is Lee. He's coming off a split decision draw and a loss, but he'd still be better than Brook. Junior middleweight is almost completely Americans with the exception of Brian Rose who's coming off a loss and is only ranked 16th. At welter there are two Brits who are draws and Khan just got knocked out.

I think having the fight in England was stipulation of the Eubanks contract; so they had to rent the O2 Arena in advance. If they didn't get a British opponent they are just throwing money away. Besides Lee at middleweight the only other available opponents for GGG anywhere near his weight class are DeGale, Groves, and Callum Smith at super middleweight.

All of those options are preferable to a Brook fight, but this all does start to make a perverse kind of sense when you remember that negotiations between Brook and Vargas just broke down and Hearn was doing the negotiating. He has two fighters who don't have opponents and want to fight on that date, an arena to fill, and bang we get what we got.

How about the other middleweights that refused to get in the ring with GGG? Is GGG supposed to offer his entire purse to his opponents in order to get cowards to step in the ring with him? What does Povetkin have to do with GGG you deluded Racist scumbag.

 

I like GGG but there are better options than this even if all middleweights are scared of him. Lara for one and he has said anyone from 154 to 168. His aura has gone down in my eyes.

If the Bum King fought a rooster in his next fight, the odds would still be the same as his other opponents with the same outcome. His fan girls would eat it up like Ali-Frazier. Can already see the excuses now...

"Well, umm... nobody else wanted to fight him so the Rooster was the next logical choice. He's fast, aggressive, and looked good in his last fight. It'll be a great fight with a guaranteed knock out"

:hey These fights don't happen overnight, a lot of pre fight preparation is involved. The Eubanks really have hurt a lot of people and will find it difficult in the future after this fiasco.

It won't always be the absolute best opponent every time. But it never is for any fighter.

 

As above, GGG won't always fight the absolute best opponent. But he will continue to rule at 160 pounds and clean the division out one after the other.

He has already cleaned the division out. Time to start looking for some new challenges.
