Miguel Berchelt was once one of the shining hopes of Mexico, that was before he was suddenly and shockingly stopped by Luis Eduardo Florez, although with many Mexican fighters it seems almost a rite of passage to lose by KO early in your career, it didn't slow down Salido all that much did it? Berchelt seems to have bounced back relatively well and is a little more defensively responsible, he's an aggressive come forward fighter, who cuts the ring off very well and is effectively aggressive. But still a question mark hangs above his head about his chin. Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo on paper has a stellar record of 61-2 with 42 KO's, his only two losses come at the hands of two great fighters Vasyl Lomachenko, who schooled his ass with one hand (because the other was injured), and JMM conqueror Chris John, however his 61 wins leave a lot to be desired, because I have basically no idea who any of them are. That being said, if Florez can stop Berchelt, Piriyapinyo shouldn't be written off. There is another interesting narrative at play here, Berchelt was scheduled to have either his coming out party or exposure at the hands of Rocky Martinez, but unfortunately Rocky pulled out at the last minute with a hand injury, which he'd recovered in the nick of time to get brutally KTFO by Loma. And now Berchelt is going to attempt to one up the Ukrainian Machine by stopping the Thai where Loma failed. Thus most likely setting up a Lomachenko-Berchelt meeting in the not so distant future. So this match could have interesting implications. Can Berchelt KO the Thai, and if he can, is he a potential threat to Vasyl?:think
Too many people are sleeping on Berchelt, I think he's a potentially huge player at the increasingly hot Super Featherweight division. [YT]RbBE8Cd1es0[/YT]
