Prime Iron Mike Tyson vs Lewis and Holyfield

So drugs ( dope, coke, smack, E's speed, and everything else you can think of according to the Tyson apologists ) are ok as an excuse for LOSING as in the case of Tyson / Douglas, but not in the case of winning.

Hmmm.

 

I wouldn't favour prime Tyson to beat either of them. Both used clinching to defuse Tyson, we saw fighters like Smith and Tucker use similar tactics to defuse Tyson's aggression in his prime, though they lacked the overall skills to beat Tyson they had the right idea on how to make him less effective.

Holyfield for me beats Tyson every time, he just has his number. Holyfield was stronger, better in the clinches, was able to back Mike up, making him far less effective as Tyson can only fight one way and once his forward momentum is taken away he is a far less dangerous fighter.

What can Tyson do differently. Holyfield has the iron chin to not be blown away easily he'll need to put a sustained beating on him to stop him and I doubt even then he could actually stop him. What does he do to not be out muscled in the clinches, unless he has a very friendly ref that breaks every clinch and deducts points quickly from Evander I can't see what he would do, nothing he has ever done in his prime shows me he could adapt and find a way not to be pushed back and out muscled by Holyfield. All the head movement in the world won't prevent him from being clinched and once in a clinch that upper body and head movement is taken away, no way he duck or slip a shot when being held.

As for Lewis that's a tougher fight, Mike at least has a punchers chance here, he can turn the fight around with one good shot and with Lewis' boxing style he'll give Tyson more opportunities to come forward as he likes unlike against Evander.

But he still needs to get inside on Lewis. Now I am confident prime Tyson slips his jab unlike when he was shot. He can get into mid range to fire, problem then is he has to get past that uppercut to do so, so would get punished on the way in and even if he slips the uppercut he will then get clinched and as I said before Tyson never really found an effective to defuse an opponent clinching him, unless he can get into mid range without getting caught and still get off first before being clinched then he loses. Lewis for me controlled range too well, hit hard enough for Tyson to not just charge in, especially with that huge uppercut and with his size advantage will easily out muscle him in the clinches.

So barring a very friendly ref and Tyson landing a lucky punch, he loses to both.

Moot points. All lost wide on the cards.

Smith put all his efforts into holding Tyson and he still took savage bombs that would have laid Lewis out cold. I'm not so sure Lewis was as good a clincher as Smith was , nor had he his bone crushing strength. Tyson was able to out muscle Smith and pin him to the ropes all night long.

Tucker just drifted away from Mike. His wasn't a clinching game at all. He ran to survive and still didn't win a round.
Lewis is too lumbering and unable to float around the ring like Tucker.
He neither clinches to win , nor does he out point him on the back foot.

The likely scenario is Lewis getting stopped as the style of prime Mike was designed to take out guys like Lewis.
His hands were always kept too low , he was slow bringing back the jab to slow , his feet were molasses like during his best years- All critical flaws that would see any one come undone against 80's Tyson.

Tucker is better than people give him credit for. He only fought Tyson in his prime.

 

Yup and on their primes he would try and do the exact same thing. Not sure who would win but Lewis would certainly attempt to manhandle Tyson and he is definately a lot stronger than Tyson that is undeniable.
