HE is one of the 3 cubans and to me seems to be the better of all 3. WEll actually i have never seen Solis but heavyweight really has no talent in it. Is it because he has no KOs on his record?? He has great technique and defense unlike Gamboa. Quick hands with plenty of snap i think. Could both of them be compared to Hopkins-RJJ. In that i mean Barthelomy would be the Hopkins who has the longer succesful career and Gamboa is the flashy RJJ who will at some point get decapitated. I actually want to see more of Barthelomy. Dont get me wrong Gamboa is exciting to watch and obviously a huge talent there but i just dont like those low hands.
yan barthelemy is the better of the three.the reason gamboa is getting more recognition is because of his crowd pleasing style.in cuba yan beat gamboa like 6 times gamboa never beat yan.

Yan was on ESPN earlier this year... I thought when i first saw him that he would be the first cuban of the 3 to lose... I think it was because i saw that he had a receding hairline... But he's panning out well... I think when he starts fighting more round fights, he may get some stoppages.. He looks like a good pro so far.. defense is there... not as active as gamboa...
I'd like to see him again on TV. Not too many prospects are going to amaze on an undercard with Gamboa fighting a journeyman in the main event.
Ive seen him a few times in the ams and once in the pros. He is a guy most casual fans wont get excited about because he is a true boxer but he is more than capable of ending up champ with his skills and talent. Im not sure about him, I think he is one of those guys who was destined to be in the 4x2 realm of the ams, not the rough 12x3 world of the pros. We will have to wait and see.

I actually think he will have a long succesful career. he is at 118 right now but with his height he can definately go up in weight. He is pretty tall if i remember right. And besides plenty of good fights at 122 that can be made or why not a fight against Mares within a year or so.
Barthelemy is a technically sound fighter, but he doesn't have especially quick hands or feet. Furthermore, he couldn't crack open an egg with his power punches. Guys like Malignaggi could get away with a lack of power on the elite level with tremendous speed, but Barthelemy just doesn't have that. When I watched him on the same undercard as Gamboa, I saw a fighter who was a solid professional, but who will never reach elite status.
I think you are wrong. Alot of people are underestimating this kid. I think he will go on to become a very serious threat to anyone within his weight class. Champ for sure. And top 10 p4p fighter in 2-3 years.
Nobody is talking about Barthelomy because he really isn't much to talk about. The definition of zero power with a defensive style (and he's still too hittable), a tendency to get sloppy sometimes when becoming uncomfortable, no amazing talent or potential, a clear problem dealing with pressure, and what I think will be proven to be a shaky chin. I will be very surprised if he becomes anything close to a B+ fighter. IMO, a high-workrate pressure fighter with B level skills will stop him in a year or so when he steps up.
