physical prime is normally like 23-25. Doesn't mean your boxing prime. Like Hopkins.

I didn't say he was ,but I would say that his reflexes and speed were better than they were when he was 37+ against Marciano.

And when would you say Hopkins ," boxing prime," began and ended?

I know what your saying, I think it's the right thing to point out that he was 30 pounds lighter than Louis and happy to engage up close. I do appreciate how 'shop worn' Louis was at this point though.

Take a look at 3:01 mark.... If Rocky actually did "hit the ropes to distract Joe Louis", it is the ultimate proof that he was one of the craftiests boxer to ever lived.... But who can say for sure it wasn't a missed punch? :D

:think You may have a point :conf I actually have no idea how much wear and tear Marciano's fanatical training regimen inflicted on him and how much was due to his slugging style.

He used to do this and other tricks like deliberately missing punches and falling over from the momentum of them, it always distracted his opponents.:yep
This may put the Louis fight in perspective.

Yes, Duran would have been much better had he taken care of himself in between fights like Rocky. Dundee said that is why he insisted that the second Leonard fight be so soon after the first. He knew Duran went to hell with himself in between fights and he did not want to give him time to undo all the damage he did.
