How good was Eusebio Pedroza?

A great fighter who did his best to win every fight he ever took part in, with great skills but limited power.

Please spare us this nonsensical garbage about him being " dirty " especially on a site where a huge majority of posters worship that filthy kunt Tyson.

 

I was asked to write up an article on Pedroza, and in the process, watched all the fights I could. Of course that was a little while ago, but I don't remember Pedroza being that dirty, aside from the Laporte match. And while I saw him as being highly skilled, I wasn't overly impressed with his work against the best guys that he fought. Personally, I thought Lockridge won the first go-round. I can't say that I was in awe of his competition level, or his exaggerated defense total either. I think Sanchez gets him out of there if they fought.

I don't count the gift decisions given him. That is, the Lockridge first OR second, and the draw to Taylor who, had a mere 14 bouts

with those 3 losses, we can't legitimately say he was really champion for that long

Too bad Pedroza/Sanchez was never made

The early 80s was an exciting time in boxing but not enough unifications were made. Hearns/Leonard was one of the view. I think if PPV had been around, there may have been more.

Dirtiest fighter I ever saw, dude could give Fritzie Zivic a run for his money in that department... but he was very good when he wasn't fighting dirty. Great speed, not a lot of power, but his cumulative punching won fights for him.

 

When they were on the go, I used to think about a Pedroza Gomez tussle. Imagine the fireworks in that one. The ref would certainly have had his hands full. The thing that always impressed me about Pedroza was his vicious body punching. He was a terrific featherweight in a very good era.

 

Damn good fighter, had a good chance of beating Salvador had they fought, and personally, I don't think Salvador was all that interested in fighting him. I do feel that Taylor edged him in their snorefest, however.
