If we could see some fight film of Harry Greb, we would probably see a lot of similarities with Calzaghe.

 

Not at all. Calzaghe just didn't have the power to hurt Hopkins, and Hopkins had the punch (but especially the timing) to hurt him. That fight could quite easily have been called a draw without too many complaints.

 

It's a shame calzaghe's right hand became brittle, he could never quite let it go as much as he did against the likes of veit and mitchell.

You have to be joking about Byron. Mitchell was walking through Calzaghes right hands for that entire round, absorbing punch after inaccurate weak punch on his forearms and was stopped after Mitchell slipped unpunched just after joe mysteriously motioned his cardiff ref to stop the fight.

OK if you really want my awesome in-depth ****ysis, it's this: Calzaghe landed more pitty pat punches and therefore technically won the match. Hopkins landed less but did a lot more damage. If it had been "on the street" folks would have said Hopkins had won.

 

Joe has now become very underrated. great amateur as well. I heard somewhere he stopped Chris Byrd in the amateurs thou Don't know for certain.
