What I love about a fighter like Santa Cruz, is that what makes him likeable and successful, isn't how many wins or loses he has, it's that he comes to fight and gives 100% every time out. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but this fight didn't hurt his career or his reputation. In fact, I only want to see him more. On the undercard, Tevin Farmer put on a heck of a boxing display. He started his career with a KO loss, and was all but written off as a 7-4 fighter. But he improved, kept winning, and last night showed tremendous skill and grit. Who would have thought early in his career that he would be putting the division on alert. This is what boxing is about. Loses can propell fighters to heights that they couldn't otherwise reach. And sometimes, they are simply the product of a close fight.
Excellent comment. More fans need to think like this. I got a text saying that "LSC was done" lol really? Because he loses a fight via MD. Fans need to be more forgiving of losses, just because a certain fighter made SUCH an emphasis on his 0. I'll watch an LSC fight any day over a Lara or Rigo fight
Honestly can't believe some comments about LSC being exposed. This was a great fight and no one loses really. LSC has a false reputation given that he's never been number 1 in any division but he certainly brings it ever fight.
I'd rather see skill and god given talent like Lara or crawford. Hit and not get hit and technical fights. Rock em sock em robots, with no skill, head down, wide shots no pop isn't for me.
Yep I mostly agree. Sooner or later pretty much everyone loses. "Undefeated" is a nice marketing edge, but it isn't the arbiter of who is good or who is great. An intelligent fighter will learn much more from a loss than from an easy win. In Santa Cruz's case, losing to another top fighter in a close great fight isn't a disaster in any sense apart from short term marketability. It might not even hurt short term marketability if it turns into a higher profile rematch. I'd quite happily watch Santa Cruz and Frampton fight each other again every second Saturday for the rest of the year.

Na, a loss is no big deal, especially to a Mexican fighter and one that knows he lost a fight that could of gone either way. In this case tho, I have more respect for Frampton, he's the smaller man and did what he did to win, but LSC clearly won the 2nd half and outworked Frampton pretty clearly. Frampton owes LSC a rematch.
Its like when Holyfield lost for the first time to Bowe, he finally got his credit as he showed real grit and *****.
