I agree that Slappy Joe beat old man Hopkins in a close fight. Hopkins pre-fight racist antics made the win much sweeter... but that logic doesn't make any sense.

Leonard, Foreman, and Ali got some of the better wins of their careers fighting waaay outside of their prime. A 43 year old man isn't prime no matter how you spin it.

Mentally Hopkins was prime, I suspect he was juicing too which kept him going, but this is a personal suspicion so I won't discuss that too much.

Hopkins made a career of beating blown up small men, his prime definitely came about post Calzaghe when he went on an incredible run, one thing that can't be disputed he was physically in much better shape than a battle hardened brittle handed old shot to pieces blown up Calzaghe.

Firstly, that wasn't prime Hopkins and secondly it's debatable if he even won that match.

People need to accept that a prime Hopkins who was p4p 3 at the time and walking through opponents ( albeit it blown up welters) was shamed by a bloated, shot, bone damaged Calzaghe who couldn't even spar properly anymore.
Hopkins ducked a prime Calzaghe and in this fight we saw why, Hopkins carried on and kept defeating the best around after Joe, it speaks volumes that Calzaghe manhandled prime Hopkins when he had nothing left himself and age had caught up with him, skill wise, he is one of the greatest ever and light years ahead of Hopkins.
