Tyson. Not much happening but Tyson was easily stronger and had the better shots.

    Tyson

Aside: Forgot how enamored Ruddock was with his "smash" punch.

I've seen the round probably 50 times (not an exaggeration) one of my favorite fights from my youth.. I still remember watching live.

A very close round that could honestly go to either man.

Interesting. Although I scored it for Tyson, Ruddock had his moments and it was close.

Had Douglas not already smashed the aura of invincibility surrounding Tyson, this fight seems like one of his toughest fights especially pre Holyfield, etc.

    Tyson definitely won that round.

Ruddock landed some good punches, and made it a great round. But Tyson threw more punches, landed more punches, landed more power punches. He was more aggressive, going forward.

I think what Ruddock managed to do very well in this round, which isn't judges by score cards, was taking Tyson down a gear. Tyson applied a lot of pressure early until Ruddock landed an uppercut. Ruddock had a much more manageable fight on his hands after landing that uppercut.

But if you judge the whole round, Tyson definitely won it.

Also, I watched the whole round a few times with no sound. Then I turned on the sound for a bit, and I couldn't believe how much it effected perception. Just the buzz of the announcers and the crowd. Made it so much more exciting.

I thought the same thing. There was a pause from Tyson after that shot and I was pretty sure it got his attention.
