Most of the amateur boxers doing well at these Olympics are going to sail straight into the pro ranks with ease? Was not a fan of the new rules that came into play for amateurs(no headguards,10 point must etc etc) but i must admit it's been enjoyable to watch them going at it. Like watching decent level quality pro's in Shorter faster fights!! I think a lot of them like I said will get into the pro game easier now. Won't take as long to adjust and certainly it seems the stronger fighters are picking up wins whereas with the old point scoring rules you would see the faster technical guys picking wins up but not all the time those guys could transition it over into the pro game.
It's enjoyable, but something is missing. The skill aspect is being replaced with windmilling and haymkers.
Nail on the head there, mate! Can't believe these are some of the best "talents" that a country can produce. Must be too much pressure with the rules change AND it being the Olympics as well, hence the dire skills.
I think its too much for young people and hazard a gues that it may put parents off getting their kids into boxing. I prefered the previous system for ams
