I myself won't be around, going out for some drinks with a lass from work, but recording this on DVR.

Ramón Álvarez, if you don't recall, is Canelo's other brother. Not to be confused with Rigoberto, the eldest, who in contrast actually managed to briefly hold a world title belt (via home-cooked gift decision ovr Nobuhiro Ishida) before getting schooled twice in a row in 2011 by Austin Trout and then Anthony Mundine - or with Ricardo, second oldest and smallest, best remembered for his gift decision over Rod Salka. No, the biggest claim for Ramón - never even a serious contender and with his biggest name scalps only coming by way of picking at the bones of shot fighters (Vivian Harris, Ben Tackie) - is having squeaked by Omar Chávez in a battle of famous boxing clan black sheep.

(Chávez, incidentally, has been in months of bitter negotiations for another of those, with Héctor Camacho Jr.)

The second-youngest Álvarez hasn't been stopped in over six years but I have a feeling that ends tonight. He's no better than recent Margarito opponent Jorge Páez Jr., and would lose to him IMO. (Páez Jr. handed Omar Chávez his other two defeats...although it must be noted he lost a majority decision against the same old version of Vivian Harris that Álvarez knocked out months later...:think)

Btw, fairly obvious team Álvarez is sending in Ramón as the sacrificial lamb to set up Canelo "avenging" him in a low-risk high-reward "middleweight title defense" in the near future. :!:
