We had to see the first fight, you couldn't not watch it but they (especially Pacquiao) were past primes, 4-5 years too late. It wasn't entertaining but the main issue for me is the Mayweather and Pacquiao fans, unbearable in every way, petty, childish and blinkered and I can't suffer another build up and aftermath.
^ This. As much as I love Pac and enjoyed witnessing his eventful career.. I would have to agree with the "styles makes fights" theory here. Skilled & experienced counter punchers just give Manny problems. We all saw how JMM effectively neutralized his aggressive volume punching momentum.. on many occasions during all 4 of their fights... And then on May 2nd 2015 many of us who appreciate the sweet science.. saw how Floyd successfully neutralized Manny's usual multiple punch combinations for the majority of the match.. except the 4th round of course. JMM and Floyd did this in slightly different ways I feel. JMM in the first few rounds of their first fight fell into the trap of exchanging punches with Manny.. in which case he got knocked down three times in the 1st round but.. as the fight carried on, JMM due to him being a counter puncher started timing Manny every time he lunged in. JMM would connect with right hand counters.. and then follow up with other aggressive punches. All four fights. Manny got caught with the same hard right hand counter by JMM. By their fourth encounter, JMM was able to read Manny very well and for the first time knocked Manny down in the 3rd round with an overhand right counter... and in the 6th round timed Pacquiao's feint/jab before countering him with that fateful right counter that ended the fight. Floyd on the other hand.. somehow went into the fight knowing what to expect from Manny. At moments in the early rounds Floyd starts off aggressively, controlling the ring and walking Manny down. However as soon as Manny started getting aggressive, lunging in and attempting volume combination punches... Floyd countered in various ways. He either caught Manny with a pull counter, did check left hooks and/or effectively used lateral movements to evade him. Except in the 4th round. Where Manny landed a solid counter left hand and then flurried on Floyd against the ropes. You will notice after this flurry (and later on in the 6th round) Manny would step back expecting Floyd to get into a heated exchange with him. Because Manny was attempting to set up a trap on Floyd. Manny is very good at luring opponents into becoming overly aggressive with him during exchanges.. and he would catch them with solid counters when the fists are flying. However it's as if Floyd sensed this and instead, was patient and took his time. Floyd fought his fight, instead of being suckered into Manny's fight. And the big difference with Floyd compared to JMM was.. Floyd was content with countering with single shots (1 pull counter here, a check left hook there) and then evading Manny. He didn't feel the need to counter and then aggressively pursue Manny with more hard punches the way JMM did it. For the most part. If Floyd and Manny were to fight again.. I feel it would be similar if not the same results. Floyd has shown time and time again he is able to adjust on a moments notice and counter anything/everything his opponents throw at him. Is he exciting?? Not really to the casual boxing viewer. To the true boxing fan however, Floyd is respected for his boxing ring IQ/intuition. Not loved for his flashiness, but appreciated for his defensive skill sets and adjustments. Manny would have to fix some of his fundamental flaws (i.e lunging in with his chin up, dropping his right hand down at the wrong moments, not cutting off the ring when situation calls for it, not using head movement when he throws his flurries, etc) ^ Would be a huge task for Freddie Roach to truly address these flaws at this stage in Manny's career though. These things should have been dealt with in his amateur years. Hard to change old habits that developed for decades or more. If they do fight.. I would be curious to see if and how Manny can adjust from their first fight and find out if he can give Floyd a bigger challenge their second time around. For Floyd, I would like to see how he handles himself and adjusts to Manny after being out of the ring for more than a year.. how he would approach the fight differently and if he can actually pull off that 50-0. Meh. Give and take. It would be interesting to witness them go at it a 2nd time but.. I feel the anticipation we all had before their 1st meetup is kinda faded.
Fugg it, Make the fight. Stack the card like an OLD School Showtime PPV. Have Don King in the crowd for effect...
Floyd would KO Manny in a rematch... Pax will have the proper socks on, His shoulder Wil be 100%, He won't trip on Floyd's foot that would cause him to instantly colapse into a coma like in the Marquez fight where he tripped into a punch. Nobody will use the Senate stuff as an excuse, or that he may only be fighting for the money factor... nobody will use those excuses.
Im wit dis guy. cause win money is gone he is gone thats it. why not witness one mo fo da road. same for the pacman when he is gone thats it. then you tube has to be your best friend. put them in the alley at the D in vegas. have each american all 300,000,000 send in .25 cents and its on and poppin
I would watch it but, as other people have pointed out, the outcome would be exactly the same. So if it never happens, I dont care. I'd rather see pacquiao vs crawford, for instance. Not to talk about ward vs kovalev, a much better fight than may vs pac II. Meh, not really interested.
1. the rematch shouldn't be in vegas. if it ain't in manila, then someplace between vegas and p. i., maybe hawaii. 2. floyd can't have his uncle kenny or his gardener joe cortez as referee who will allow him to frequently hug/hold to disrupt pac's rhythm. 3. vada testing.
