UFC Catching up. Conor McGregor Earned $15million

Where does it say that they earned 15 and 13 mil? I see 3 and 2 mil

 

That's the thing....
with more money coming into the UFC and the more the UFC grows, the more MMA in general will grow and the more money there will be across the board for the different organisations.

The UFC has done an amazing job in elevating themselves to being the premier league of the MMA world. but how long will that last?

Surely at some point Bellator and Co will build enough fan base and have the money to hang onto their own stars and we'll be left with similar divisions as in boxing.

Remember there was a time when it was one belt in boxing, predominately money split that into WBA and WBC.... then eventually along came the IBF and then the WBO which were both not held high in the early days. Now both the IBF and WBO are seen as part of the major groups and all hold value.

wasn't there some dude called Crocop or something like that in the MMA universe that was supposed to be an absolute machine?? I don't recall ever hearing him being in the UFC....
Also that Cyborg chick.. she's been known as the most savage female in MMA for years now hasn't she? she's only just recently joined the UFC though hasn't she?

I can promise you there are 15-16 year old amateurs in the US that would look like mayweather in the ring with these bums.

 

Algieri has a better striking pedigree than almost anyone in MMA, he would make both mcgregor and diaz look like children in the stand up. The real money is in boxing which is why he chose boxing. Boxing has the real athletes, MMA has glorified toughmen. Where are you getting 15 million and 13 million? Everywhere else says they got paid 3m and 2m.

 

The only reason Diaz got him to the cage wall was because he was already gassed. Also don't really agree that there's significantly more effort exerted when kicking. Just think McGregor is a joke of an athlete.

 

Real athletes and toughmen? 2 fools say the same thing doesn't make it true. Do you guys have to be so insecure? You know, exaggerate and belittle something so you can feel better about something else. I'm a boxing fan and MMA fan. I can be both, so can you.

You can't read the title of the article posted by TC? It's right there...even a blind man can see it. They get a guarantee and extra from number of PPV sales... which something like 2 million buys.

Just face the facts and appreciate both sports. Only Manny made more money than McGregor on a single fight this year. Cotto was 2nd with $15 million against Canelo...about the same as McGregor. And Nate Diaz comes at number 4.

 

Let's see...legs are at least 3 times bigger than arms. They need to anchor one leg to throw the other one, usually traveling a long distance to the target. They have to move their entire body when throwing a kick and try to stay in balance after the kick.

You're right, it doesn't make much effort. It's as easy as apple pie.

 

Algeri would be a bigger bum in MMA than he is in boxing. It's possible to appreciate both sports.

This raises the specter of a question: How can the best fight the best in the UFC if some of the best never join the UFC? Indeed, it seems like there are many top fighters who fight for rival promotion companies from World Series of Fighting, to Bellator, to One Championship. Their promoters put them under exclusive contracts much like the split between HBO, Showtime, and PBC, which hinders major fights from getting made.

This all suggests that the mma world is a lot less unified than we are lead to believe. It further proves that there is a lot more talent outside of the UFC, making it less likely that the best are always fighting the best there, instead of just the best available.

 

yes, thats where mma is at right now, but the next generation of fighters have been practicing and perfecting the form of mma, which is a strong mix of many disciplines, into the perfect combination of fighting techniques.
kind of like what bruce lee was trying to do, except now when can test each particular move, using the best fighters in the world on a daily basis, and the best offensive and defensive moves will survive to become a new art. if interest keeps growing of course.

 

You would have to think Conor McGregor has to be very confident going into a fight now with a guy smaller than Diaz. He would feel invincible knowing he handled a much bigger guy who is one of the toughest in the sport.

He'll go well in the 155lb division moving forward.

 

You're about as much of a boxing fan as Joe 'I'm a meathead that has Willie Pep DVDs' Rogan.

In 5 years you MMA fans will forget about the great McGregor and Diaz. They'll be another foot note in UFC history of journeyman fighters, as in they were never elite or dominant athletes in the first place.
The excuse from fans that their records are like that is because of the different ways that you can lose in MMA or the best always fighting the best is re****ed.
It's just those guys a ****, plain and simple. Poor stamina, poor technique, poor game plan and mental lapses.

Btw Joshua and Khan earned around the McGregor/Diaz pay in a single fight this year...
