Tough one. These were probably the most dangerous heavyweights that ever existed.

I'll lean towards picking Tyson, and here's why: every time he went the distance people claim he struggled because he didn't knock his opponent out. That right there is called DOMINANCE.

im split but lean toward Lewis for a few reasons:

    1) common opponents: Ruddock, Golota, Botha and Holyfield all lasted longer or had more success against Tyson..
the one exception being Frank Bruno

    2) the ko against Botha...Tysons was very impressive, just one punch...but Lewis's was one of the most brutal ive ever seen

    3) i think Lewis actually generated more power behind his right...Tyson had to close the distance and swarm his opponents. he had the speed for sure, but Lewis could be end a fight from a safe distance like he did to Rahman

Tyson's hard to beat for anyone in this regard. He has lightening handspeed, huge power, throws punches from different angles and is a great finisher. This is why he sports such a sensational highlight reel.

I love some of Lewis' but Tyson's stoppages often evoke words electrifying/dynamic/furious hence his cult type staus with many.

Lewis had some rippers earlier on tho.

I'm admittedly a bigger fan of Lewis than Tyson but if we're talking about a highlight reel of KO's l lean ever so slightly towards Tyson. I think Lewis probably has more one punch power but the speed of Tyson's punches and the beauty of combinations was, at his peak, something to behold.

Tyson against Botha is one of my favourite.

Having been schooled for the full fight up until the moment of that one punch, he showed that even with just raw power alone he had enough to end any fight.

But in terms of a highlight reel, Tyson is p4p number 1.

Great thread. These are two f my favorite knockout artists. Tough to choose. The way Lewis came out so aggressive vs Ruddoc, Golota, Botha, Morrison etc was awe inspiring and Lewis' right hand is one of the most powerful in the history of the division, great uppercut as well. Tyson's were definitely more aesthetically pleasing and equally incredible. The Berbick KO I ve never seen a fighter fall 3 times from a 6 inch left hook, the Tillman KO was incredible. I'd give the edge to Tyson more form and effectiveness but would have to say they are tied. One best KO from each Tyson Berbick and Lewis vs Botha.

yeah i feel like ppl forget about Lewis's ko over Botha...it was one of the sickest KOs ive ever seen, and up until that fight Botha was considered a pretty durable guy

i think that was the KO that really got me thinking that Lewis could give Tyson a run for his money in KO value

also the Rahman KO was a thing of beauty. just a clean 1 2 right on the chin that put that boy down and out. cant remember for sure but i dont think Rahman even tried to get up. he just layed there flat on his back with his arms and legs spread out if i remember correct

A bit like Lewis then with OSsie Ocasio, a guy Holmes knocked out 12 years prior.

Well, with the exception of Ruddock you're measuring a post prison Tyson with a prime Lewis. And even so Tyson fought everyone sans Golota before Lewis got to them.

Why not take Tyson's and Lewis' 10 best KO's and stack them against each other.

    TYSON..............LEWIS
KO 1 Spinks .....KO 2 Ruddock
KO 4 Holmes ....KO 1 Golota
KO 6 Thomas ....KO 4 Rahman
KO 2 Berbick ....KO 2 Botha
KO 2 Tubbs .....KO 2 Grant
KO 7 Biggs ......KO 7 Bruno
KO 1 Frazier ....KO 8 Tyson
KO 1 Williams ...KO 5 Briggs
KO 3 Bruno ......KO 3 Biggs
KO 5 Botha ......KO 6 Morrison
    KO 1 Etienne
    KO 1 Savarese
    KO 1 Tillman
    KO 7 Ruddock
