I was a bit disappointed with Kell throwing Dom under the bus saying "You'll have to ask my trainer about why he did that" talking about throwing the towel in. Ten more seconds and Kell would surely have been damaged or unconscious.
Because like a lot of people with egos who have made claims about winning he had to front it out after GGG handed him his backside. What did people want for GGG to knock him out then drag him round the ring. The guy got found out and made a few pounds. How much credit does GGG need for his 36th win and 33rd stoppage. Gawd, give me strength.
They have, 36 of them.Billy Jo Saunders probably won't and neither will Eubank jnr. Hearn needs plenty of mug fights to keep the money rolling in.
There's a strong chance that he's already damaged given his post fight assessment of his own performance.
Brook was constantly off balance due to GGG's superior ring generalship. He controlled the centre, and Brook's shots were of lesser power as he didn't have time, or room to really sit down on them. GGG acknowledged some of the better shots with a head nod, just to say well done, then continued forward. Hopefully this reduces the GGG hasn't bet anyone talk...because he broke down an undefeated fighter when he turned it on.
Fully agree. I've had strong doubts about Golovkin ever since the Murray fight. When I witnessed GGG gassed in the 10th throwing every last ounce of energy into one the most basic of fighters in Britain, I knew he wasn't this unstoppable killing machine. Tonight just proved that opinion, where we witnessed the 'hardest puncher on earth' failing to drop a man two weight divisions below him. Bring on Jacobs, Saunders and Jr
That's why I was hoping it would of gone a little longer, maybe it would have without the eye injury. Just because Golovkin missed a lot of big punches and I wanted to see how he got on in the later rounds, after expending a hell of a lot of energy. Also thought the same in the Murray fight that he was blowing pretty hard near the end.
Danny Williams...ruined his shoulder and just went for it with one arm. Thought the stoppage was premature and was agreed in advance that Ingle would take the blame and stop the fight early before Kell got hurt.
It's on YouTube and I've just watched it back. Kell has some success but you can tell early on the he's not happy with ggg's power with a twitching. Brook boxes beautifully at times timing ggg but ggg is happy to suck it all up and dish his own stuff back at brook. Ingle was right to throw the towel. Just too much punishment for brook in the end. Back to welterweight for brook.
I actually wanted to say Williams but wasn't bothered to google haha. But yeah. You ask Danny if he's glad he fought with one arm, and he's say damn right he is.
GGG had an off night and Brook genuinely had success with his counter punching, and won the second round. Having said all that GGG had broken Brook down by the 5th and was definitely on the verge of knocking him out clean before towel waver jumped in
ha ha - joke of a post. the 'hardest puncher on earth' broke a bone in the other man's face. what more proof do you need. Also would've had Brook down in the 1st had Brook not grabbed and scrambled successfully. Fact is on an off night GGG still didn't need to box more than 5 rounds against a faster fighter who was fully motivated and giving as good as he possibly could. What more do you want from Golovkin before admitting that he is this era's top middleweight by far and in the all time discussion at 160
Having watched it live then again this morning on Sky I think the reason the fight ended the way it did was quite straight forward. A move from Welter to Middle has two issues, punch resistance and punch power. I think that Kell probably surprised a lot of people with his punch resistance, he never went down and never lost control of his faculties, however, the real problem is that his punches simply didn't hurt GGG, I thought post fight GGG was coming across in an almost compassionate way by saying he is not a middle weight, he didn't serve to gain anything by saying that, infact quite the opposite. So it's that simple, if you are going to beat Golovkin you must either have almost unnatural skills and stealth (such as Mayweather albeit a different weight) or have the power and chin to fight fire with fire. Once Kell hit him with (feet planted full bloodied) combinations and GGG almost nodded in appreciation of the skill but not the power the writing was on the wall. I expect at the right weight (or even MW if he picks his fights) it will make KB a better fighter in the future, he now knows what failure feels like and won't want to experience it ever again.
