This is a ridiculous comment! Brook's profile has been raised with this fight and if his trainer wanted him to continue fighting in good health then he was right to wave it off
Just cos they get paid millions they should just take the beating round upon round eh! Possibly causing long term damage, affecting ones family, career, future.. Yeh, right.. What utter nonsense...
Totally agree with this. Some of the posters comments on here, along with those idiotic Eubanks are just stupid beyond belief. If you get smashed around the head lots, you'll end up with a brain injury-fact. What's the point in having money in bank from fighting when someone else as to manage it for you and a support worker has gotta help you to go the toilet? It's not brave getting battered, it's brave holding your hands up and saying I've took enough punishment and it's time to stop.
Eubanks shld b fined for their comments...I wld love.to.ask senior on the back him saying only the ref shld b able to end the fight ; "so if Michael Watson corner knew he had an internal injury then they shldnt the have been allowed to pull him out?" I'd love to see him answer that..and also the utter fail in Jnr's comment nothing will stop me from claiming they belts of ggg???!!wtf..quite clearly ther are things that wld stop him otherwise it wld have been him in ther instead of Brook.not the brightest is he?
There's a surefire way to avoid long term injury - don't get paid to fight. Like I say, anyone can quit. I could have quit. He's getting the money because he's not supposed to. In fact let me clarify - he should have taken the knee and got counted out or gone for it and got KO'd. But throwing the towel in?
You do realise how bad an injury a broken eye socket is, right? Obviously not.. It's like 1970 on here at times with the inane stuff spouted, honestly...
If that's the case why wasn't he pulled out in round 2 or 3? There's a degree of bs on this eye story. I'm not disputing it's fractured but if he could see 4 gggs he would have been swinging like a drunk. His performance didn't change throughout the fight he just got beaten up. For me if his vision went it would have been apparent and obvious
Considering Eubank nearly killed someone and ended their career in the ring you'd think he'd be a bit more understanding.
Great cornering in my opinion as a few seconds more then you would have added broken jaw to the eye socket! A concussive KO could ruin any fighters career and that was going to 100% happen!
The potential to be hurt long term when you may not be aware of the full extent of the injury is one thing. Being aware of the injury and knowing your fighter is having sight issues that could lead to permanent eye damage, or worse, is another. People take risks when they know the potential risks. They rarely do, and quite rightly, when they are living through and are being effected by said risks. As for the pay; these guys aren't getting paid more money because we expect them to take more risks. Risk isn't a deciding factor in their pay grade. It is talent and popularity that decides their pay. If Brook's corner was not aware of the eye injury then I would complain about the stoppage. However, they were, so I believe it was a good stoppage.
I get what your saying and but answer this I am a big fan of Brook. What gets me is the injury happened round 2 and he was throwing out distress signals. Why didn't the doctor check it out if he vision was completely fooked you would think the corner would bring the Doctor in take a look and take it from there. The stoppage by Ingle was just awful if Brook eye was that bad get him out in between rounds 2-4 instead of standing on the apron looking daft. Instead we have Brook taking punishment and the corner wave it off after Kell taking punishment. It does Kell no favours at all especially putting the towel around his head in between rounds.
The problem is when you accept such a fight where you going up in weight 2 divisions then say well he was getting hurt by the bigger man, you have agreed to this.. If this was a pre planned stunt where the Engles had a safety net for Brook then that's wrong and robbing the paying crowd and the PPV viewers. Brook done his best and showed heart, but when GGG was about to have his fun the towel came in, seems a bit fishy to me too, but I guess we will never know..
