It's what every boxing division should look like, full of great fighters and competitive match ups. As it is the most ignored division money wise it has to make competitive match-up in order to keep itself relevant. In the past two years we have seen several off the top 15 fighters in the ring each other in what turns out to be great fights, it's literally a kill or be killed division. Here are just some of the recent match ups: Lebedev vs Ramirez (WBA, IBF unifications) Glowacki vs Huck (WBO, potential foty candidate last year) Bellew vs Makabu (WBC) Glowacki vs Usyk (Olympic champion and proven top 3 fighter) Lebedev vs Gassiev (divisions GGG vs the most proven man in the division) Kalenga vs Lebedev (WBA potential foty) Kalenga Vs Dorticos, Bredis vs Durodola, Durodola vs Krudyrashov, Chakhkiev vs Ofalabi....so much match ups to name
I think he was clearly referring to Gassiev as "GGG" and Lebedev the most proven man. Yea, cruiserweight is the most exciting at the moment because fighters genuinely want to get in the ring against each other; they dont just "twitter fight". Also less divas tbh. They seem to put up or shut up, and thats how it s supposed to be.
Cruiser, 130 and 115 are RED HOT right now...hard to split them in terms of which is the best but those 3...god damn!
It has always had a bad name, and always gets a mention when talking about weak divisions, while nothing can be more untrue. I love the division, and like mentioned, it kinda represents the HW division from way back when.
It is currently a very strong division, never hear much about the purses though so I presume they aren't the best? It deserves more coverage & higher purses, is the Lebedev-Gassiev bout confirmed? Haven't seen anything official, hope it happens.
