http://www.independent.ie/irish-new...peration-against-kinahan-cartel-35048437.html i really don't understand why boxers are continuing to be associated with mgm, when will boxers realise that their lives are more important than getting a sun tan and hanging around with drug dealing gangsters? i really hope that mgm scotland is not as involved but i fear that what happened at the show in ireland might well happen in scotland too and i just hope that no innocent people get hurt because of this
Its not just boxers who should be asking themselves if they should really be assosiated with mgn. promoters and sports channels should also be asking the question
i have to agree also, what really bothers me are the coaches, why would you want to recommend a boxer that you have worked with day in and day out to an outfit that could end with them being involved in this? i understand that they are given a monthly sponsorship and get free food/accommodation when in marbella but is it still worth the risks involved? i only work with amateurs but if they were to ask me about turning professional i would steer them to the likes of lock stock promotions or saltire promotions in scotland and keep them as far away from mgm as possible
Why all the hate on MGM. There absolutely great for british boxing they give a great opportunity for young boxers to turn pro and train in brilliant conditions.
It's a front. I have no problem with it as i've grown up around all that in London. But please don't be naive.
What have YOU achieved to say that? Chances are on his worst day Macklin is a better man than you on your best day. He is one of the better colour commentators on sky as well as being knowledgeable, intelligent, fair and articulate, also macklin is not a sky sucophant. He tells it like it is....unlike many other ex boxers on sky.
He keeps some very unsavoury company though Len. If I were at Sky there's absolutely no chance I'd have him doing anything for the channel considering who he chooses to associate himself with. He's seen to be the face of the money laundering side of a murderous organisation. MGM is built on blood money. We all know it.
What better than to have a stable of boxers to intimidate competitors. I mean if your not willing to kill someone with a knife or a gun then your pretty much ****ed. Only problem that comes with relying on drug money (other than police or competitors) is that eventually the boss wants a favour in return for buying you a new pair of gloves
I doubt you can launder much money through a boxing gym. He is friendly with Dan. Kinahan alright, but they probably just like each other and became good friends. It happens. Lots of "solid citizens" become friendly with "undesirable"people, particularly if they have never seen the guy do any harm. Chances are Matt just got to know him before he realised he was Christy Kinahans son. Who knows. Also I don't think Daniel has a conviction to his name that I know of. We don't choose our parents. Is it fair to blame the son for the sins of the father? Maybe I'm just being a misty eyed romantic about it cos in my own life is own mum is dying right now......
He can't choose his father but he can choose his friends, Liam Byrne and Freddie Thompson probably two of the biggest phscopatic gangsters in Ireland and you think he is an innocent chap with a bad surname. These lads are no jokers they are single handily wiping out the Hutch family. Pure scum.
