Interference on the BoxNation HD channel

    It will be on ch 490. Looks like they are going to rebrand that channel as 'Boxnation Box Office'

    Hi,

    I have been having trouble with the picture quality on the BoxNation HD channel for the last 3 months or so - note, this is only in the HD channel, not the regular channel.

    The actual picture quality is fine, it's just that the picture jumps every 30 seconds or so (almost like interference) making it very frustrating to watch.

    I can confirm that I have no issues with any other channel on my Sky package, only BoxNation HD.

    I thought that my satellite connection/set up may be faulty, but have spoken to customer care who ran some tests and reported that everything was fine. I also started a thread on a UK boxing forum to see if others were experiencing the same problems, and it seems they are - see link below, please ignore some of the childish posts..

    I have contacted Sky customer care and they weren't much help, they hadn't heard of the channel and asked if the cables were connected to the back of my Sky box.

    I have also been in contact with BoxNation numerous times, but they insist that the problem is down to Sky as they (you) distribute the channel on their behalf.

    Could your technical department please look into this ongoing problem?

    I've not had a reply - not even an acknowledgement from Sky as of yet. I'll keep you posted if I do.

    Thanks for the clarity. This is good news I think because channel 490 is the HD channel and that's the channel with the glitch.

    Based on their marketing strategy BoxNation are implementing for this fight, i.e. using Sky, I think they may finally pay attention to the complaints and look into the issue; secondly, as Sky will be taking a cut of the PPV, surely they will do quality control tests on this channel beforehand to ensure all is well - which should highlight the the glitching issue... fingers crossed people this will work in our favour.

    Channel 490 is the problem HD channel, surely they can't use this as the Box Office channel with all the glitches?

    I got a reply from Sky last Thursday (15th):

    Thanks for your email.

    I am sorry to hear you are unhappy and have not received any response back. I can assure you, I have raised this to Platform Control and as soon as I receive a reply back from them I will update you.

    For future reference the number for Viewer Relations who liaise with Platform Control is 03442 410 265.

    How did everybody else find the broadcast last night?

    I didn't watch all the coverage but I did watch the Smith / Alvarez fight, including build-up and post-fight analysis and can confirm that there was no glitching at any point.

    I think our persistence Bob may have finally got them to rectify the situation.

    I pay my box nation subscription on top of my sky, I got up early hours to watch the fight and the channel was saying I need to subscribe,
    Iv been paying £12 a month for god knows how long.
    I've cancelled my subscription, it's a joke of a channel.

    I've not experienced that problem...

    Have you received a new card from the bank recently? Pay Wizard may have your old card details which would result in a declined transaction and BoxNation turning off your subscription. That's the only thing I can think of that's happened.

    That being said and everyone around here agrees, their customer service needs to improve.

    Yeah, all good my end as well, haven't had chance to watch the whole broadcast, but seen the majority and it was glitch free.

    Hope this continues.

    Thanks to everyone who (positively) contributed to this thread, I'm sure it has helped in some way.

    Nothing major on mine. Couple of glitches just after the ring walk but otherwise fine.

    Mine seems to have cleared up. Lets hope it stays that way.
