I understand the age issue here, and I do think it would be a close call, but just as age is a factor so to are Calzaghe brittle hands. Where as Hopkins handicap is age Joes is just as important. I know people call him a slapper but I remember when he could knock good quality opposition out, he can't afford to hit with full power. So with that in mind, who would win? IMO I think Calzaghe has the edge.
i think firstly Calzaghe would never face a BHop calibre fighter at 35. F Warren would not allow it. you would see a more agressive version of B Hop, a more physical fighter. I see him busting Joe up for a UD. But joe would make it a great fight, 1 thing about Calzaghe is that he is the kind of fighter who if he were in a a playground fight at school and he got beat up hed be back the next day to fight the same kid. Joe is a gutsy guy, but B Hop is just too good for him at his peak.
If they are both 35 Hopkins wins quite comfortably but I doubt Calzaghe would fight someone as good as a 35 year old BHop.
:huh He won a controversial SD against a 43 year old BHop. Come on dude, this isn't a question of who wins it's a question of how BHop wins.
Hops would win easy- but only because current JC has slipped since fighting the Dane. If both were 33 or younger JC wins
That was only one fight ago. Could it not be that Calzaghe looked really bad because of Hopkins? He has a habit of making guys miss and hitting them with counters.
True but fighters do suddenly slip I had the fight a draw or possibly JC by a rd. JC suddenly looked easy to knockdown. The weight seemed to suit BHop more than Joe which really surprised me, Joe seemed to have no power.
