And Dlh is doing the right thing with Canelo. GG's people are doing the right thing for him. But by them not fighting, all we keep doing is arguing!

This is what I'm talking about. You realize that if you say 97k for GGG you have to say 650k for Cotto - Canelo lest you be labeled a hypocrite?

    Exactly.
We knew the circumstances, but nobody really criticized the numbers. They criticized Crawfords performance. Only the fanatics went that route until boxing fans chimed in. True boxing fans understood the exposure the fight could bring. True boxing fans didn't care about the numbers. The fanatics wanted blood and guts, and always want blood and guts fights, but armchairs are armchairs for a reason and boxers are boxers.

Fine for amusement let's say he did do 150k then we have to accept the number GBP puts out for this fight. Agreed?

Nah in all honesty.. GGG-LEMIEUEX did 150k, Cotto-Canelo did 900k.. Canelo-smith is projected to hit 300k when it's all said and done.. either way Canelo still comes out on top over GGG.

With 300k Oscars wet dream of a flat fee is straight outta the window. With Canelo's numbers drastically falling over the last 12 months, its more than clear that BOTH fighters and promotions need eachother. There is no A side nor B side.
And this makes the fight all the more compelling.

Dren, that fight was reported as having as many at 150k PPV buys and was seen as a massive failure (at least by many on ESB, despite selling out MSG). Haters have been beating their drum that it was proof GGG had no drawing power in the sport. Now the current "cash cow" of the sport sells 250k PPVs and that's a success?

It will be closer to 300k which is his average buy rate, for his own headlining PPV. people were saying the GGG PPV was going to do 500k, now when you make predictions like that and 150k is what you get... That's a big failure in the heart and minds who boldly predicted that...

It was a pretty disappointing fight through and through though. Crawfords last few fights had him being aggressive and going for the finish when he had his man hurt. However in this fight every time Crawford had Postol hurt he backed off and taunted. It's not like Postol was anymore dangerous than fighters like Gamboa either.

    Wrong

Anyway they count the ppvs, Canelo still sells more.

    10 mil flat fee

    Take it or leave it

    That's it

Times have changed. Do you even know the numbers for Pac's and Mayweather's last PPVs?

Now that's an objective post. I said 250k for Smith earlier because that's what the source the thread was started from said. But a simple Google search has more official numbers at 290-300k. That's fair.
