Doctor's letter says Fury will be 'unavailable for the forseeable future'. Maybe we'll never see him in the ring again. Think we can consider Wladimir absolved from his contractual obligations. Will be interesting to see what Fury's absence means for the heavyweight division. Two titles will become vacant. Who knows what Wladimir will do.
N I thought Fury was a good thing for boxing and the heavyweight division when he beat Wlad and yeast now I just hate him as he's just trying to keep those belts as long as he can before he's forced to lose em,his pal Billie Joe Saunders is no better either ,scum of the earth pair of em!
Why should he get sympathy. David Haye pulled out cos he said he needed shoulder surgery and what was Fury's response to that. He gave Haye no sympathy at all. I'm finding it difficult to believe there is any injury.
What i mean is could it be that wlad fights someone and breaks contract. Then fury comes back and is not forced to rematch wlad?
I understand your skepticism. It's not like he hasn't been caught blatantly lying before. But with this likely costing him his titles, this time I suspect it's real.
Fury was wrong to give Haye grief about the shoulder, just like every boxer and every boxing fan is wrong to give fighters grief when they have to pull out because of genuine injuries. What strikes you as fishy about Fury's condition? There's talk of him being institutionalised. If he was afraid to fight, why would his team cite mental illness rather than a broken bone, torn muscle, etc? It's obviously serious.
I'm a British fan so I'll add some insight that others may not have in terms of media. I saw an interview with Tyson many years ago, probably around the time of the first Chisora fight. I think Tyson was in a bad place at the time. The question of what he would do if he lost was raised, and I'm sure he intimated that if he lost he'd kill himself. It was a while ago so don't quote me, what I am saying is that I had the impression that when he was low, he got so low that the thought of defeat made him suicidal. It was never an act with Tyson, he is real in terms of what you see is the person he is at that time. Just an up and down type of guy, to the extreme. A bit like his namesake probably? Hopefully he's alright and his family are alright and that there is a long-term recovery here. In terms of the belts etc. I dunno. If you were mentally in a seriously bad place should your job be taken away? I don't know.
Yeah, I've seen the interviews where he's made some alarming statements. I'd actually be okay with him being stripped of his titles, simply because these problems are far more important than his career and there's no way to tell when he'll be able to compete again. In this context, his belts don't seem too important.
even if he does have some mental issues, the timing is as fishy as it gets. Just this week it was confirmed that he would be forced to go through immediate VADA testing, which he apparently opposed
I remember that interview as well, mate. Boxing fans in the UK, who get to see and hear from Tyson more regularly than others, have long had our suspicions about his mental wellbeing. The guy's always struck me as seriously unstable. With regards to his titles and whether he should be stripped, if he's not fit to defend the belts there's no reason for him to have them. Even if he never sets foot in a ring again - and I pray to God he will - he'll always have the distinction of dethroning the most dominant heavyweight of his era.
If Wlad fights someone else the contract will already have been torn up. Fury will be able to return and fight whoever.
If you can't go to work because of a medical condition for a full year then yes, usually you lose your job and the company finds a replacement.
I hope he doesn't do a Frank Bruno and turns up at the Grand National thinking he's Ruby Walsh.... That cocaaaiiine just fries the braaaiiiiiin.......
Fury has basically admitted being depressed in the past. If it's a mental health issue I wish him a speedy recovery.
