just heard that gary sykes has decided to retire, he feel she doesn't have the hunger anymore and wants out on his terms. great wee fighter and wish him all the best in his retirement
Wish him all the best, he was involved in some good domestic dust ups over the years good luck to him.
Had a great career fair play to him glad his retired had long hard career and fought some top lads on the way.
Yes he has had a tough career with plenty of hard fights let's hope he enjoys retirement and is not tempted back as many do as he is only 32. Lots of exciting fights and fought the best around domestically, good luck to him.
Thought he was fighting Dodd in a couple weeks, good luck to him anyways good when boxers get out before it's too late
Ye this is true.. i was going to post it on sat but decided to wait till it was confirmed a bit more proper. His heart isnt in it anymore and its been at the back of his mind some time now. Hes a close friend of mine and im sad to see him leave the sport but without question its the right decision. Hes got employment set up and he has a beautiful partner and two daughters so hopefully the transition should not be a difficult one. As has been said he was in some great dust ups domesticaly winning the british by outpointing morris and then succesfully defending against ohara and johannson before losing to gary buckland. He then came back some 2yr later to stop john kays and reclaim the british once again then subsequently losing it to liam walsh. He should of won the british outright but never did as the board informed him before the walsh fight that he never had a mand. Gary was informed by his manager and his promoter that johannson was mand and thats why he took that fight but thats a story in itself. Good luck to him..
I enjoyed watching him early in his career, he looked like he would do well but it just fell away in the end. I wish him all the best and hope he enjoys his retirement.

Good fighter that gave everyone a tough night. He has peaked so it's a good time to get out. Good luck to him and his family
