    Awful news and just last week a few of us were talking about Johnny Owen on here.

    It's the news all boxing fans hate to hear and a terrible time for his family and friends.

    I also always think about the opponent as well in this situation Dale Evans who will be devastated.

    Don't know the ins and out of the medical checks prior to fights but if it does not happen, the time has come for there to be brain scans together with full medical checks two weeks before and after all professional fights.

    Maybe some of the pros on here can let us know what does happen.

    Plenty of money in the sport at the top end that can be diverted via a % age of earnings if cost is the issue.

    Very sad day for boxing and steps need to be taken to significantly reduce the risk of this happening again.

    Terrible news.

    If the headache stuff pre-fight was serious i'm amazed he was allowed to fight.

    I am in the process of organising a fundraiser for Mike and his family, on the 29th Oct in my gym in Airdrie many top name in our sport have committed to come and donate memorabilia for fundraising, the boxers include Alex Arthur,Rick Burns,Anthony Crolla, The full Smith family,Rocky Fielding, Terry Flannagan, Derry Mathews and Tyronne Nurse and I'm sure many more will turn up.
    So I hope boxing fans all around can come along meet some stars and help raise some money.

    I was very fortunate enough to train a few member of royalty from Quatar last year, I have remained in touch with them and explained what happened to Mike Towell, they are only to happy to make a donation for his family, just goes to show everyone cares
