Dean Lonergan of Duco turns the heat up a bit :

"Since Eddie is trying to secure Klitschko to fight Joshua, we're not going to sit down here on our hands. We're going to pursue what we think is the best option for Joseph Parker."

"Right now, the way the cards are falling, Joseph Parker versus Andy Ruiz Jr for the WBO world title is the best opportunity we can see".

"But as Eddie Hearn continues to say, this situation is fluid and could change at any minute, because if you think back only a week ago, nobody thought that Tyson Fury wouldn't be fighting Wladimir Klitschko."

Lonergan has pointed out that WBO rules state 'the two best classified contenders' will challenge for the title.

"We have agreed we can do the fight in New Zealand, we have agreed on a date and we're pretty close on getting the money down," he said.

"It's just a case of waiting for Tyson Fury to be stripped and waiting for Eddie to make that deal with Anthony Joshua versus Wladimir Klitschko".

"I think they will make that deal, but it just won't be for the WBO heavyweight title. You guys need to read the rules to find out what can and cannot happen.

"Eddie will need the magic of Harry Potter, if he thinks that fight will be for the WBO belt."

The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) will decide in a meeting on October 12 whether they will withdraw Tyson Fury’s licence.

BBBofC general secretary Robert Smith told the Press Association:

“The board meets next week and we’ll discuss it, I’m fairly sure. The meeting won’t be for Tyson Fury alone. We have a meeting on October 12. All of Mr Fury’s recent issues will be discussed at that point, after which we’ll see what we’re going to do.

“He is licenced by us. The sanctioning bodies, the WBO, WBA - they are not governing bodies - they can strip him, declare the titles vacant, or he can vacate them. We deal with the licence, so in theory, if we were to suspend him they would have no choice but to strip him because he can’t defend them, can he?"

With both the WBO and WBA titles likely to become vacant after the BBBofC are done with Fury on October 12th, there could be all sorts of possibilities out there for Joseph Parker.

Yep anythings' possible. Still not sure how Wlad gets to fight for all the titles but I think sanctioning body's rules are more like guidelines that can be contravened at will. Checkout Dwyer's Ruiz vs Parker prediction. Lays some good points down as to why it's a tough fight for Parker.

Did anyone see how John Parker looked? The highlights showed him swinging like a bat out of hell, looked pretty sloppy. Work in progress hopefully. ...

He went 10 rounds with a 40yrold journeyman last month. Looked sharp but seemed to gas badly by the 7th rnd

I watched one of his latest fights, seems like he never fulfilled his promise. There was a time I'd back Ruiz to beat Parker, now not so sure.

I think if ruiz takes it seriously and gets in shape he's in with a chance. MAYBE he comes down to cash out in a way

A big if, when has Ruiz ever been in shape.
Is there enough money in this to cashout

I gather if a 40 yr old journeyman is causing you to gas after 7 , you'd besseriously thinking your worth and might take an ok payday. Duco seems to think there's some good cash in it. I guess what I meant to say is, if Ruiz comes in to the fight out of shape as opposed to grotesquely obese then we could have a fight
