Assuming the pot is 4 million. Jacobs accepts no less than 2 million. Should GGG offer half in such a situation to get the fight made? Even a 60-40 split, of 4 million, which would equate to 1.6 million for Jacobs. Problem is by overpaying Jacobs, other opponents will expect similar treatment. I don't know what the offers are, what's been offered to both parties. You would assume that GGG guarantee purse should be at least 2 million plus his other revenues. Jacobs obviously won't take this fight for less than he made for Quillin (which was 1.5 million). Such a crap situation. I want to see GGG in good fights before Father Time beats him. But is it reasonable for him to offer 50/50 to an undeserving opponent? I say no way.
If that's what it takes to get the fight, yes. Him doing this shows he's ready to start making concessions, even if the guy on the other side of the table is the B side. Hopefully he'll come to his senses now regarding the Canelo offer.
But an opponent like Jacobs CLEARLY doesn't deserve 50/50 It's just another sign of entitlement mentality. EARN the right fit 50/50
I knew you'd say that. You can believe Oscar all you want. GGG deserves 30 percent of a Canelo fight. And That's that.
Nah...I say let it go to purse bid, call their bluff. If jacobs wants it, he can accept it. Simple as that.
Jacobs is the mando. The split is predetermined no? Golovkin was happy to take the split as set out in the official agreement as challenger to Canelo so he can't be accused of not being willing to play by the same rules. Personally I don't care what either fighter gets as it doesn't affect me in any way shape or form but it does seem funny how some fans want Golovkin to bend over backwards in each and every decent fight he's interested in making. The onus always seems to be on him and his opponents craven behaviour continually gets given a pass.
GGGs been bending over his entire career because he came from Kazakhstan with ZERO ethnic fanbase. It's a joke
Not if there's not a percentage being discussed, and a flat fee is the only offer on the table.. you make it seem like Canelo going to get a 40-50 million guarentee... This isn't Floyd/pac, that type of money will never be generated or heard of again.
