Ya, just look at Danny Jacobs, unknown to the casual fans, unknown to people in NYC, wants big money to take his mandatory shot at the champion, like its some optional fight,
    Its unheard of

Hypocritical yes, but also smart from his part, same with Canelo now
But these superstars earned their stripes and get the "right" to be hypocritical one or two times, the young boxers that havent done ish of note not, they just wanna copy the easy stuff Floyd is doing forgeting the sacrifices he made early on

That's fine. But when you unashamedly insist that money is basically your world, you're setting yourself up to be seen as a c*nt. And that's what he was and is. A man with few principles.

Sorry but in any business if you want to succeed and make big money, the principles go out the window, its just how it always was, no matter we're talkin about prizefighting or any other venture, Floyd didnt invent anything new
The only thing you can argue he "set himself up" is on the promotion side, where now even his own fighters would want to earn that " floyd money" without necessarily earning it first like Floyd did. But even this, it aint Floyd's fault

Al Haymon has a bigger ego than Floyd does. This is why you rarely see PBC vs Mayweather Promotions fights. I don't believe Haymon promised his guys more than he can give them but I do believe he bit off more than he could chew with boxing promotion. This ain't the music biz that he is used to. He really thought he could buy his way to success without sacrificing his major chess pieces like Broner,Garcia, Thurman...he has to put them in bigger fights or prepare to close shop. Bob Arum pulled the Ace out at the end of the year on everyone.

I don't see why anyone would have a problem with his comments, but then again people will discredit everything. I for one agree nowbody remembers the PBF days or the fact he was already the man in 2/3 divisions and a top Champ in another before he got his first huge payday vs Hoya. Even then during the money phase of his career when he made mega paydays every fight
He fought Mosley P4P and the man at WW
Cotto the man at JMW, Guerrero who was a 2/3 division Champ and 4 weight titlist, Maidana WW Champ and former JWW Champ, Alvarez unified JMW Champ, Pacquiao P4P #2 and an ATG. come up with any excuse you want all them guys would be the best wins any current WW would have. Half these new guys barely fight one Champ/Titlist and act like they deserve the world, you wanna make Manny,Floyd,Cotto money put in the work, the closes we have right now is Alvarez, Gomzalaz, and Ward but Dre doesn't have the commercial appeal. No fighter out right now really should be making multi million dollar paydays off there present work.

Floyd waited til he proved he was the goods before he started demanding money. This was a decent interview. Was.. That crap about never needing to bring his A or even his B game to win a fight was pretty stupid.

Looking at comments on these quotes across the board I honestly feel the fans and detractors are the reason the sport is where its at right now. These Jacka$$es have spent years convincing people Mayweather got paid for fighting nobodies these news guys actually believe it and think that's the way to go.
Look at GGG fans or Ward, or any of these WWs right now, they'll have you convinced fighting Lemuix, Murray, Geale Is on par and puts you in the same standing as fighting G.Hernandez, Corrales, hell Chavez. Or the Froch and Dawson are the same as a Hoya or even a Hatton.
Look at these Welters the best win Thurman has next to Porter is a struggle vs R.Guerrero, Brook,Garcia, Vargas etc... Don't even have a win as good as Maidana.
You gotta put in work if you wanna get promoted, half these guys are 5-10 yr pro's and have one or no quality win on their resume and expect big money. 80% of the fighters active don't even have wins as good as J.Chavez or Gatti or Judah and for Mayweather those aren't even top 10 wins.
Instead of bashing you should want more guys to be like Mayweather

If anything, Floyd's nickname should've been called greed., not money.

Technically, he jumped the gun himself. He was offered a deal for 1.8 million per fight back in 2000, 23 fights in, in his first weight class, when he'd only beaten Genaro Hernandez and called it "slaves wages."

Of course, what he doesn't tell you is that boxing isn't fair or even a meritocracy. Roman Gonzalez is 46-0 and accomplished as much as Floyd had before he fought De La Hoya, but his last fight in his fourth weight class, his sixteenth title fight earned him $400k. Mayweather was getting 8 million a fight by that time. Donaire was a five weight champ the first time he sniffed a million dollar payday.
