In the wake of Pryor's death do you think Ring Magazine were accurate? I expect a fair few objections, but... I will say that, opposed to more tireless affairs like Barrera-Morales I, Pryor-Arguello I had a bit of everything, distinct chapters like a good story - an explosive start, a period of out-boxing, late-round Hail Mary's from Arguello and that vicious comeback in the championship rounds. Throw in the controversy to keep us debating and it's got every ingredient.
Good fight, but there were many better. It wasn't even the best fight in 1982. I thought both Gomez-Pintor and Chacon-Limon IV were better. Frankly, so was Sanchez-Nelson. Christ, 1982 was a great year.
Man that decade had so many wars, and unlike today's fighters it was good/great fighters putting it on the line. Gomez vs Pinter, Sanchez vs Nelson, Sanchez vs Gomez, Almost every fight Bobby Chacon was involved in, Leanard vs Duran 1, Leonard vs Hearns, Hagler vs Hearns and Mugabi of course Pryor vs Arguello 1, Holyfeild vs Qawi/Braxton 1 And those are just fights off the top of my head. But yes I'd agree Arguello vs Pryor 1 was the best of all.
