Not unless your doing a heavy load of sparring. I had hand problems for years and since stopping the use of wraps they have improved a lot.

Even when one of inoues trainers wrapped my hands i still got the same pain coming back so even though maybe the damage was done by improper wrapping. Proffesional wrapping did not help

    Wrapping prevents hand/wrist injuries.

probably should wrap them, 1. just to prevent injuries and 2. get the feel for them anyway because you will have to use them in a real fight.

Yes. It serves as extra protection for the knuckles.

When you are sparring it is...but during the time that you are not sparring a lot of guys wrap their own hands and hit mits, the bag or speed bag. It depends on what you're working on that day.

I would recommend to use wraps at all times during training on bags, mitts and sparring. The only exception is if you are doing strength and conditioning training.

I can't see why you'd need wraps to hit mitts.

You are using considerable friction hitting the mitts, so the wrap with help with absording impact when you are using power during drills. If your knuckles are not protected this way, you can easily damage your hand with incorrect technique. You may just suffer minor blisters but how hard is it to wrap your hands just to be safe?

They were important for me because I would injure my knuckles every time I hit the heavy bag without them. I wrapped my own hands in the gym but for a fight, my trainer would do the honors.
