That's not what the article said. The article said that Jacobs camp is dragging out negotiations and so there wouldn't be time for a decent training camp before a December fight. Golovkin wants to fight in December and fighting Jacobs, possibly for low money wouldn't make financial sense if it cost him the money he could have made on another fight while negotiations get dragged out.

Loefler already asked for things to go to a purse bid to try and speed things up, then Jacobs said that he wanted to fight someone else before fighting GGG. It's not GGG's team that's scared of a purse bid. They asked for one. It's Jacobs team who wants more money.

GGG doesn't want to grow old never fighting anybody, never making any money, while Jacobs, Eubanks, Canelo, and Saunders try to find their pens. He's not going to wait patiently on the sidelines like Klitschko did all year waiting for Tyson Fury.

 

It's very likely to happen next year now, we will just have to be patient.

I don't think you can expect Team Golovkin to just give Jacobs more money to make this move a little more quickly or every potential opponent will do that same thing, drag it out, make things awkward and tire negotiations because they believe if they do they will eventually get a better deal.

The splits are done, Jacobs gets 25%, WBA ruling. It's just down to purse bids, so yes I agree it's frustrating but Team Jacobs was offered 25% and point blank refused the deal, they wanted more money pretty much knowing that's all he was going to get anyway, so they dragged this out, they slowed the negotiations.

I'm sure Team Golovkin are not completely without blame but they always knew the WBA ruling was there if they went purse bid route and that's what the splits would end up being at worst so it's hard to see what they are pushing for or why they would make the negotiations drag on. I'm sure there are some reasons but I can't think of many.

 

This is why I call it Boxing politics. It's quite literally politics. This latest news is ggg's team trying to spin their latest ****ery trying to deflect from them not wanting to make this fight.
