Unprofessionism, doesn't live the life outside the gym. Claim Eggington had a low ring IQ, mate yours isn't much better! Box and move that's how he should have done last night, showed he was class above and it looks beautiful against a limited crude Eggington. Instead he choose to trade at times - OK I understand its a local derby, but don't do that so often and get off the robes when he was pinned.

He should retired now if he cannot delicate himself to the sports and stick to a game plan, a wasted talent.

Gavin thought with his heart, not with his head.

I'd like to think he could have won had he done so, but that weight cut hurt him. He looked ill up on the scales.

For all of his amateur accomplishments, I have no idea why he fought fire with fire last night. He should have been on the move all night.

He MUST go to 140 (sounds crazy seeing how he failed to make 147), but a rematch would be no different.

Fair play to Eggington. No doubt some people made a killing from him at the bookies. He was like a mini Froch in there at times. Just a f*cking cyborg!

Gavin MUST go to the states now for quality sparring (any gum in the world would welcome him with those amateur achievements), he MUST knuckle down when it comes to nutrition and he mist change his training. He's had it easy for too long now, so a very drastic change is what's needed because a rematch would go no different.

On paper, Eggington shouldn't be able to live with someone who has been as good as Gavin has been, but fair play to Sam. He clearly had a lot of people writing him off, and the sky team was unbelievably biased last night.

    Cracking fight!

Should be fighting at 135/140 - his shots carried no power, and Sam literally walked through him and was not bothered whatsoever. How Gavin was up on the cards is truly astounding to me - he was getting beaten up in there. I had money on a Gavin win on points, a truly shocking bet, but you just think someone with his supposed class should have enough to beat a guy of Sam's level.

Fair play to Eggington he made Gavin fight the fight he would of wanted, attritional war it was Gavin that showed the lack of ring IQ last night he claimed Eggington had.

Frankie Gavin at 31 is not going to make the sacrifices needed to fight in the division he should of been in since his pro debut 140 lb.It was a cracking fight but for Gavin a hard lesson that natural ability only takes you so far without dedication, fights are often won and lost in the gym before the first bell.

Box and move? Gavin had no chance with that as he couldn't hurt eggington. Punches had no pop so regardless of what Gavin did eggington was always going to get close.

Was a great fight. Gavin would still be British level even wit 100 percent dedication and moving to 140.

How had Gavin got 14 stoppages to his name? Serious feather in those fists, even Amir Khan would walk through his shots.

Sam made gavin look like a yolk of a fighter

He and his trainer clearly hatched a plan

He started coming out of his shell early rounds

    He was cracking gavins defence

    Gavin looked shell-shocked

    Those bodyshots really scrambled him

He tried to come back but Sam's attitude was hard boiled

Frankie needed to go for broke but he wouldn't whisk it

In the end gavin was left with egg on his face

I think that is a bit drastic at 31 to say he should consider retirement. Changes clearly have to be made. I have found Gavin to be one of the more unintelligent personalities within boxing, and feel like many others he would benefit from a total change of scenery/training/etc. Retirement though, that's too much. He'll still be able to attract good fights, at this point though his talent as most other posts have said, will not be fulfilled.

I enjoyed last night's fight and would enjoy being entertained again by Gavin . i would watch the rematch for sure.

If fans are calling round 6 round of the year then its a bit harsh to call for retirement

50% of boxers lose every week . if they all retire pretty soon there's no one left.

Not everyone can win all the time losing is part of the game

He's pissed his career away. I can't see why he'd change now after years of being complacent.

Props to Gavin. This guy is usually in the most boring fights imaginable. I haven't seen the latest, but by all accounts it was actually exciting. This is a first, and well done 'Funtime' for finally being involved of 15 minutes of fun.
