I thought the Spilka fight was good as Spilka came to play and I think surprised everyone how good he was,up until one of the most lethal KOs I've ever seen Spilka was having real success. As for the Arreola fight though I know it was thrown together because of the Povetkin debacle but I can't agree as Arreola looked unfit and was like a heavy bag in there with Wilder?
Thurman only fought once. Crawford looked boring against Postol. Lomachenko's wins over Martinez and Walters aren't enough. Frampton got Santa Cruz and Quigg. Gonzalez got Cuadras and Arroyo. And that's about it. Ring will probably try to give it to Ronda Rousey, the Mike Tyson of our generation.
Nah. Frampton and Ward if he gets past Kovalev are my 2 candidates for FOTY. You know what I should reiterate what I said. Frampton and the WINNER of Kovalev/Ward would be my two candidates for FOTY.. I hope my haters are happy now!
Lewis, if they did so, then those 'aficionados' would lose every shred of credibility they've ever had... all two of 'em. There's no way Wilder deserves FOTY in 2016. A Povetkin win could've helped his chances of even being mentioned, but even then it would've been a long shot. Loma (if he beats Walters), Frampton, and Chocolatito are credible front-runners right now. We'll see how things look after the rest of the big fights have taken place this year.
Not just yet. Wilder's level of competition is decent for a young fighter lacking a deep amateur background and learning his trade on-the-job. It's not like a pro who has 300+ amateur fights. 2015-2016 was the year that Wilder took the belt and made a few decent defences against b-level opponents. 2017 is the year that Wilder breaks out, dispatches a couple more b-level opponents (Stiverne, Pedvetkin,Vlad) to become the HW division sole A-level champion. 2018 is the year Wilder gains HBO/Showtime huge contract which will allow him to earn tens of millions per fight and chase the legacy of the sport's last ATG HW, Lennox Lewis. Bet on it!
Wilder should be stipped of his fake title..................WBC will continue to protect Wilder for years. Wilder's next fight will be a 5th voluntary defense against a bum/wino once again............
