The footage starts after Sharkey has been knocked down. The interesting bit to grasp here is Sharkeys condition after the ref completes the count, and as he's taken over to his stool.

Hya Rez. Clear film of the aftermath of Dempsey koing Sharkey. Take care...

Sharkey looks genuinely in distress there obviously from the body shot rather than the left hook to the jaw.
Was it ever established if the blow was low, as I seem to remember they were in a clinch and Dempsey had his back to the camera?

The body blow was not deemed a low blow by the referee. It was an accumulation of body blows by the best body punching heavyweight ever, that took the wind out of Sharkey leading to that left hook. Sharkey always claimed that Dempsey was a paralyzing puncher who could "break bones wherever he hit you..."

Clearly grabbing his nuts and not his jaw. Obvious which punch did the most damage: The foul.

Regardless of whether it was a foul or not, Sharkey's reaction matches the exact reason why I wear a cup playing football as a goalkeeper 3 times a week

Why is he dangling from his stool like a ragdoll?

Also, if you take a nut shot, I don't think you'd be falling back on the ground trying to get up like Sharkey is. That's something you do when you get the air knocked out of you, no?

For a clearer example of of Dempsey's body work watch the Firpo fight. You could see those short punches and what effect they had. Rez, was right "if you take a nut shot, I don't think you'd be falling back on the ground trying to get up like Sharkey is. That's something you do when you get the air knocked out of you, no?".

He was likely fouled but the shot to the jaw is what flattened him .. great post by the way Rez !

Can't see the drama, he had no problem with his nuts right before the left hook. If your nuts have been truly hurt you are sure as hell doubling over in pain. There's not much worse.
